David Burns(June 22, 1902–March 12, 1971) Amercian actor and singer. Born on Mott Street in New York City's Chinatown. He made his Broadway debut in "Face the Music" in 1932 and appeared in many comedies and musicals over an almost 50 year career. He won two Best Supporting Actor Tony Awards for his performances as the Mayor in "The Music Man" and Senex in "A Funny Thing Happened on the Way to the Forum." He also appeared in the original Broadway casts of "The Man Who Came To Dinner" "A Hole in the Head" "Do Re Mi" "Alive and Kicking" "Make Mine Manhattan" "Hello, Dolly" "The Price" "Lovely Ladies, Kind Gentleman" and Art Buchwald's "Sheep On The Runway." He also appeared in the films "Deep In My Heart" "Let's Make Love" "It's Always Fair Weather" "Who Is Harry Kellerman" and "The Tiger makes Out." He died on stage in Philadelphia on March 12, 1971 during a tryout on Kander and Ebb's "70, Girls, 70."
