Dungen (Swedish "the grove") is a Swedish psych-pop band with elements of Swedish folk music and prog rock. The band is fronted by the young multi-instrumentalist Gustav Ejstes, who has been known to compose for and play virtually all instruments on the records. Gustav started composing music in his mother's basement. He was a fan of hip-hop, but his father was a Swedish folk musician. After pouring through countless old records , Gustav decided to follow his father's path. This resulted in the Dungen EP, which was released by Subliminal Sounds on vinyl for a limited 500 copy printing. This stirred a great deal of interest, and as a result, Dolores(a division of Virgin Records), signed a contract with Dungen (which had become a band by this time). The result was Stadsvandringar, a psych-pop album, which did not get much fanfare.
