Midway Arcade Treasures is a collection of 24 old arcade games that was developed and released by Midway for the GameCube, PlayStation 2, Xbox and PC. A second collection, Midway Arcade Treasures 2, was released for the same consoles in October 2004 and a third compilation, Midway Arcade Treasures 3 is set to be released September 2005.
The game plays similar on all three consoles however the Xbox version has the exclusive ability to upload scores to an online scoreboard. The special features on each version of game are the same. These include game histories, developer interviews, and other documents. To be specific, this is actually an amalgamation of the "Arcade's Greatest Hits" series (minus the pre-1984 Atari titles), plus "Arcade Party Pak" for the original Playstation and PC, and each contain the exact same extras from those collections.
Games
The collection consists of the following 24 arcade games:
- 720°
- Blaster
- Bubbles
- Defender
- Gauntlet
- Joust
- Joust 2: Survival of the Fittest
- Klax
- Marble Madness
- Paperboy
- Rampage
- Rampart
- RoadBlasters
- Robotron: 2084
- Root Beer Tapper
- Satan’s Hollow
- Sinistar
- Smash TV (the reason for the collection's "T" rating)
- SPLAT!
- Spy Hunter
- Stargate (as "Defender II")
- Super Sprint

(According to the collection's bonus material, Williams changed the game's original name to "Defender II" from "Stargate" because they wanted to "own the trademark on the title". This is why all console ports of the game have "Defender II" as their name. Also, no arcade cabinets with "Defender II" marquees were ever manufactured.)
