Sanbu District

Sanbu (山武郡; -gun) is a district located in Chiba, Japan.

As of 2003, the district had an estimated population of 150,863 and a density of 494.26 persons per km². The total area is 305.23 km². This does not take into account changes due to the 2006 merger of four towns and villages to form the city of Sanmu.

Mergers

On March 27, 2006, the towns of Sanbu, Naruto, Hasunuma and Matsuo merged to form the new city of Sanmu.
On March 27, 2006, the town of Yokoshiba merged with Hikari from Sousa District to form the new town of Yokoshiba in Sanbu District.
