The 2008-09 UCLA Bruins men's basketball team will open the season on November 3 when it takes on Cal Baptist in an exhibition game in Pauley Pavilion. The Bruins will participate in the 2K Sports Classic, Pac-10/Big 12 Series, and the John R. Wooden Classic in the Honda Center.

The following players are expected to start for the team: Alfred Aboya (Center), James Keefe (Power foward), Josh Shipp (Small forward), Jrue Holiday (Shooting guard) and Darren Collison (Point guard).
