Mark Beretta (born 16 June1966) is an Australian media personality.
Early life and career
Originally a water-skier, Beretta was a 10-time Australian champion of the sport before beginning his media career on Geelong radio station 3GL in the late 1980s. Beretta quickly rose up through the ranks of sport broadcasting in Australia through his NBL reports on Network Ten, and in 1995 the Seven Network begrudgingly signed him up to a sports reporting role, which he continues today on Sunrise. Beretta, is the main fill in for David Koch on Sunrise when he is absent. In July 2008, Beretta began presenting Seven Early News alongside Natalie Barr at 5.30am, which leads into Sunrise where he is still the sports presenter. [1]
Sunrise
Beretta formally co hosted Sunrise with current National Nine News presenter and Today Show newsreader Georgie Gardner in 2001. From 2001 to mid-2004 he also presented the sports section on Seven News in Sydney.
He has also commentated in Olympic Games, and holds an engineering degree.
He is a regular guest on radio station Triple M's show The Shebang.
In 2006 he was the host of Channel 7's ill-fated quiz show, The Master, which originally ran on Wednesday nights at 8:30pm. Axed after just one episode (one possibility being due to the conflict with the soccer which ran on SBS), the series eventually returned in late 2006 in a new timeslot, Monday nights at 7:30pm.
In 2007, Beretta is part of the pit-walk team with Grant Denyer and Daniel Gibson to report on the V8 Supercar Series. And Neil Crompton, Matthew White as the commentary.
Beretta was a contestant on Series 7 of Dancing With The Stars. A huge Geelong fan, he even danced to their team song on October 2, 2007. Mark was also a torch bearer for Beijing 2008 through its route in Canberra
Personal life
Beretta is married to Rachel and has 2 children, Ava and Daniel.
