Sidamo was a province in the southern part of Ethiopia, with its capital city at Irgalem, and later at Awasa.

Following the liberation of Ethiopia from Italian occupation in 1942, the provinces of Borana and Wallamo, created from conquered states of that name, were merged into Sidamo. With the adoption of the constitution in 1995, Sidamo was divided amongst the Southern Peoples and Oromia regions of Ethiopia.

This province was named after an ethnic group native to Ethiopia, called the Sidamo, or Sidama, who are located in the southwestern part of that country. Their major political state was the Kingdom of Kaffa.
