Sainik school Balachadi is one among the 20 Sainik Schools in India located in Gujarat.
It is an English medium, residential school for boys providing Public School Education with a military bias up to 10+2 stage as per the Central Board of Secondary Education.
Sainik School of Gujarat was started in the year 1961 at Jamnagar. Initially, it was established in the two blocks of Irwin hospital. To provide better facilities, the institution was shifted to its present location at Balachadi. Late Shri Lal Bahadur Shastri, the then Prime Minister of India, presented the school its colour on 07 Mar 1965.
Sprawling across a wide campus along the golden sands of the Gulf of Kutch, lies a patch of land, beautiful in its rare wealth of flora and fauna. Balachadi has a rich historic past. People visit the beach of Balachadi has a rich historic past. People visit the beach of Balachadi in large number, for offering prayers to their dear departed ones. Legend claims that Balachadi was the ancient Dwaraka, ruled by Lord Krishna. Balachadi also enjoyed the privilege of being the Summer resort of the local elite for quite a long time. Quite befittingly Balachadi unfolded her cosy wings to house the uprooted polish children during the Nazi outrage of Poland in the Second World War.
The survivors of this outrage visited Balachadi which gave asylum to them at a tender age. They expressed their gratitude and to commemorate this event they installed a plaque in front of school Building.
Sainik School Balachadi has records of producing one of the good students and will always be.The students just don't come to study ,it is a temple to transform cadets to fight and sustain
for real world and their country.
Mission
The scheme to establish Sainik schools was introduced in 1961 with the primary aim of preparing boys academically, physically and mentally for entry into the National Defence Academy and Defence Forces.
The objectives of the scheme are :-
To remove regional feelings in the officer cadre of the defence services. To develop qualities of body, mind and character which will enable young boys to
become good and useful citizens.
To bring public school education within the reach of the common man.
To prepare those who fail to make it to the National Defence Academy,
Defence Forces for other walks of life.
Activities
Sports & Games :
Major outdoor games : football, basketball, hockey, volleyball, cricket, badminton, tenni-koit, squash. Regular inter house Competition in all these events are organised every year. Athletic competitions (track & field) are held every year.
Hobby Clubs : The following club activities engage the boys' leisure hours and make them very creative. Art Club, Craft Club, Story - telling Club, Physics Club, Chemistry Club, Bio Club, Bird Watching Club, Computer Club & Trekking Club.
Inter School Competitions : The school encourages cadets to participate in interschool competitions , both literary and sports such as debates, declamation, quiz competitions, essay writing, poetry composing, short story writing, drawing & painting and all Sports and Games events. Our cadets go to various parts of the country to compete in these events.
Camps: The school sends quite a good number of cadets every year to attend various camps (NCC & others) organised at various parts of the country.
Literary Club English & Hindi : Organises the following Inter house Competitions :- Declamation Debate Essay Writing Poetry Recitation Spelling Competition Science Quiz General Quiz Weekly News Analysis Group Discussions

Admission
The scheme of entrance comprises of two parts : The Written Exam and the Medical Exam with Interview. Candidate who qualify in the Written exam will be called for Medical / interview.
Entrance Examination : Examination is conducted in the month of Jan/Feb. The exact date is mentioned in prospectus.
Centre of Examination : Ahmedabad and Sainik School Balachadi. Applications on prescribed form are supplied with the prospectus only. Admission is restricted to Class VI and IX only.
Eligibility :
For admission to Class VI - Boys aged between 10 years and 11 years as on 01 July that year. Boys applying for admission to class VI must be studying in or must have passed class V.
For admission to Class IX - Boys aged between 13 yrs to 14 yrs as on 01 July that year. Boys applying for admission to class IX must be studying or in must have passed VIIIth Class.
Medium of Entrance Examination : Medium of examination for class IX will be English. The answers can be written in any of the recognized languages. Question papers for Class VI will be set in English, Hindi and Gujarati and all recognised regional official language.
Reservation : 15% for SC, 7.5% for ST and 25% for Defence personnels including ex-servicemen.
Prospectus - cum - Application Form : Available in Gujarati and English (bilingual) on payment of crossed bank draft in favour of Principal Sainik School Balachadi, Payable at any nationalized bank at Jamnagar. or by hand from our office in working hours. Sale of prospectus cum application start in the month of oct.

Subjects for Entrance Examination to class VI : Mathematical Knowledge & Language Ability Test (one booklet) ( 200 marks). Intelligence Test (100 marks).
Subjects for Entrance Examination to class IX : Mathematics & Science (one booklet) (200+75 marks). English & Social Studies (one booklet) (100+75 marks).
The pattern of question papers may change every year. The syllabus for entry into classes VI & IX will be as that of classes 5 & 8 respectively based on NCERT book. The written examination is followed by a medical examination and interview by a duly constituted Board In the month of April. Boys selected for this examination will be informed accordingly.
Mark sheet of Written examination & Interview can be obtained from the school on payment of Rs 100/-.
Revaluation of entrance Examination : Application for revaluation of Entrance Exam papers must reach the school within one month from the date of declaration of written exam results alongwith a fee of Rs 100/- per paper by demand draft. Mark sheet of entrance exam can be obtained on payment of Rs 100/- by DD/Postal order after publication of result, on WRITTEN REQUEST from the parents with self addressed stamped envelope.
The appeal for medical review must reach the Principal within 15 days from the date of rejection alongwith DD of Rs 100/- (Rs 50/ - for SC/ST candidates) drawn in favour of "Principal Sainik School Balachadi ".
Admission in other Sainik Schools if low in Merit for the School Applied for : Parents willing to admit their son / wards in other Sainik Schools, in case they are qualified but low in merit in schools of their domicile, are to give an undertaking that they are willing to admit their son/ward as full fee paying cadets in other Sainik Schools with a condition that they will not later on seek inter-school transfer.
The following must be furnished in the undertaking : Name of Sainik School of first choice. Name of Sainik School of second choice. Name of Sainik School of third choice. Any other Sainik Schools.
Legal Jurisdiction : For any dispute with regard to admission/withdrawal/fees etc. of students, the legal jurisdiction of the school will be Jamnagar only.
