"Hot n Cold"
Song

"Hot N Cold" is the second single from Katy Perry's album, One of the Boys.

Song information

Blender Magazine calls the track a “spunky, climate-controlled kiss-off,” and Entertainment Weekly agrees, “It’s damn fun.” The song went for adds on the North-American radios on September 9 and remained the song with one of the biggest bullets of the entire mediabase for weeks. Perry made the live television premiere performance of “Hot N Cold” on NBC’s Today show outdoor concert series on August 29th. Katy revealed in an interview with Radio 1 that "Hot N Cold" would in fact be the follow up single to her number one hit "I Kissed a Girl" in the United Kingdom and Australia. There are currently three radio edits. One being where the word "bitch" is replaced with the word "chick", being "You PMS, Like A Chick, I would know". The second mostly used on radio program Open House Party, this version uses "girl" instead of "bitch" or "chick". The final one was once played on Ryan Seacrest's American Top 40 radio show. In this version Perry sings "You PMS, I would know."

Remixes

Music video

The video was shot in Los Angeles early in September. It premiered at MySpace on October 1, 2008. The video was added to iTunes on October 10, 2008.

The music video begins at a wedding, as the vows are said between Katy and her soon-to-be husband, Alexander. However, he backs out, and the song is performed as Katy chases him across town and mentally brutalizes him for having cold feet. The song ends with Katy standing over the groom with a zebra standing beside her, and revealing this was all a 'what-if' vision the groom was having if he had refused. He accepts, and the video ends with the two running down the aisle to a cheering, crowded church. As of October 13th, the song has received more than 2 million views on YouTube.
