Joey Meng Yee Man (Chinese: 萬綺雯, born October 2 1970) is a Chinese actress. She was born in Hong Kong. She was the first runner-up of the Miss Asian Pagent in 1989 and was voted as one of the "top five stars with the best bodies at the millennium” in a recent internet poll.
Acting
As a lead actress in many of the well-known television dramas produced by the ATV in the 80s and 90s, she is best known for her role as the formidable, mini-skirt wearing vampire slayer, Ma Siuling in My Date with a Vampire (MDWAV). In the series, she plays the last descendant of the vampire slaying and ghost catching Ma Clan, whose supposed destiny of her character is to destroy all vampires (the King Of Vampires, Cheung Sun in particular) but ultimately falls in love with a vampire named Fong Tin Yau.
She was twenty-five when she took on the role in the first series of MDWAV and thirty-four when she acted in the third installment of the series.
After disappearing from televison screen for three years since 2004, Joey Meng has recently returned to ATV to film a new drama entitled Fa Wang Qun Ying (法網群英), the grand ATV production since 'Flaming Butterly'. In this drama, she will take on a role as a forensic scientist and be collaborating with the more renowned actors and actresses in Hong Kong which includes some previously under the TVB management.
Personal life
She has been happily married to the scriptwriter of the MDWAV since 2000. She once said in an interview that they do not intend to have children. The two only got together after the filming of MDWAV2, they bonded at the celebrating party of MDWAV2 where they got to know each other.
She has turned vegetarian in the recent years.
Her hobbies include music, sleeping, watching movies, canoeing, and traveling.
