Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties (also known as Garfield 2: The Prince and the Paw-per in the UK, Garfield: The Movie 2 or its working title Garfield 2) is a theatrical sequel to the 2004 live-action feature film Garfield: The Movie. This film was directed by Tim Hill, written by Joel Cohen & Alec Sokolow, produced by Davis Entertainment for 20th Century Fox, and was released in U.S. cinemas on June 16, 2006 (July 21, 2006 in UK). It borrows its storyline from Mark Twain's The Prince and the Pauper.
This film was rated PG by the MPAA for "some off-color elements."
Plot Summary
The story of Garfield: A Tail of Two Kitties takes place in the city of Los Angeles, California. It begins one night, when Jon Arbuckle makes dinner for his girlfriend Dr. Liz Willson, who is Garfield and Odie's personal veterinarian. While there, Jon practices his proposal to Dr. Liz Willson. Jon Arbuckle's cat, Garfield, tells Jon not to propose and get Married To Liz Willson because she is a woman. Dr. Liz Willson comes to Jon's House and Liz tells Jon that she has incredible news to tell Him. The Increredble News That Liz Has To Tell Jon and Garfield and Odie Is That Liz Is Going Fiying On An Air Plane To London England To Give A Speech At The Royal Animal Conservancy At The Carlyle Castle Tomorrow. Jon Tells Liz That Has Some Importaint News Of His Own Jon Tries To Find The Ringcase With The Ring In It But He Can Not Find It So Jon Tells Liz That He Finally Has Houstrained Odie Jon and Liz Share A Small Kiss and Liz Tells Jon That She Is Sorry But She Can Not Have Dinner With Him and Garfield and Odie Because She Has To Pack For Tomorrow's Air Plane Trip To London England To Give A Speech At The Royal Animal Conservancy At The Carlyle Castle But Liz Tells Jon That She Will Send Him Regarts To The Queen. Liz Contraulates Jon For Finally Houstraing Odie and Liz Blows Jon A Kiss and Says Bye and Gets In Her Car and Drives Home To Pack For Tomorrow's Air Plane Trip To London England To Give A Speech At The Royal Animal Conservancy At The Carlyle Castle. Jon Goes To The Kitchen and Finds Out That Garfield Ate The Whole Turkey and Is Playing With The Ringcase and Garfield Tells Jon To Return The Ringcase and The Ring and Get His Money Back and Then All Of A Sudden Jon Will Go To London England To Surrpize Liz and Asked Her To Marry Him Garfield Tells Jon Not To Go To London England To Surrpize Liz and Asked Her To Marry Him But Jon Goes To Pack His Bags and Get Tickets To An Airplane To Go To London England. The Next Day Jon and Garfield and Odie Get Into Jon's Car and Jon Drives Garfield and Odie Off To The Kneel But Garfield and Odie Quickly Escape From The Kneel and Garfield and Odie Get Back In Jon's Car and Garfield Throws All Of Jon Clothes Out Of The Bag and Out The Car Window and Hide In Jon's Bag and Jon Goes Not Know That Garfield and Odie Are In Jon Bag and Jon and Garfield and Odie Ride Off To The Airport To Catch An Airplane To Go To London England. Meanwhille In London England In The Carlyle Castile Lady Carlyle Had Passed Away Last Night and Mr. Hobbs and Mrs. Whitney and Mr. Greene Are Reading Lady Carlyle Will To Smithee and To The Narfouious Lord Dargis and To A Royal Cat Named Prince The 12th Of The Carlyle Castile and To A Dog Named Winston and To A Bunny Named McBunny and To Other People and Animals. The Will Of Lady Carlyle Says That Smithee Will Take care Of All The Animals In The Carlyle Castile and He Will Always Have A Home At The Carlyle Castile and The Narfouious Lord Dargis Thinks He Will inherited The Castle But The One Who inherites The Castle Is Prince and Then Lord Dargis Comes Up With A Plan To Get Rid Of Prince and Then Lord Dargis Puts Prince Into A Picnic Basket and Lord Dargis Throws The Picnic Basket In The River and The Picnic Basket Heads To London and Then A Black Crow Fiies To Tell Prince's Friends What Has Happen. Jon and Garfield and Odie Finally Make It To London England The Land Of Royals and Jon Checks Into A Hotel and Liz Finds Jon and Garfield and Odie Zip Out Of Jon's Bag and Surprize Jon and Liz. Meenwhille Back At The Carlyle Castile Prince's Friends Find Out That Lord Dargis Threw Prince In A Picnic Basket and In The River and The Animals Get In The Castile To Find Out What Lord Dargis Is Up To and Pretty Soon Smithee and Mr. Hobbs and Mrs. Whitney and Mr. Greene Get A Call From Lord Dargis Who Tells Them That Prince Is Missing. Back At The Hotel Jon and Liz Decide To Go To See What London England Looks Like and Pretty Soon Garfield and Odie Are Looking For Jon and Liz and Garfield and Odie Are Soon Lost In The streets of London and Smithee the butler believes he found Prince but it was really Garfield and Smithee Takes Garfield Back To The Carlyle Castile and PrInce ends up in the sewer of London and Jon finds Odie with Prince and mistakes him for Garfield and Jon and Odie Take Prince and Go Back To The Hotel To Give Prince A Bath. Mr. Hobbs and Mrs. Whitney and Mr. Greene Sucpect That Lord Dargis Is Up To Something With The Esate and So They Send Another Member Of Thier Investering Team Named Ms. Abby Westminister To Find Out What Lord Dargis Is Up To With To With The Carlyle Castile. Garfield Savors The Royal Treatment Affoded By His Royal Subjects Including An Eager-To-Please Butler, A Very English Billdog, A Duck, A Hare, A Goose, A Bull, A Ferret, A Pig, and A Shakespereare Ouoting Mouse. However, Garfield's Reign Is In Jeopardy. The Nefarious Lord Dargis Thinks That Prince Is Back and Is Determined To Do Away With Garfield So He Can Turn The Castle Into A Resort makes many attempts to get rid of Prince/Garfield, one involving a vicious but dim Rottweiler Named Rommel The Rottweiler. Reception
The critical reaction to Garfield: A Tail Of Two Kitties was poor, getting a very low 11% rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes. However, the film grossed over $28,426,747 in the U.S. Box Office. Despite this, this film was not as successful at the box office as the original movie. It however became a success overseas earning $113,011,707 making a total of $141,438,454 worldwide.
Home release
- The DVD was released on October 10, 2006. The DVD includes a "Drawing with Jim Davis" featurette and two games: Garfield's Maze, and Odie's Photo Album. It also includes a music video, trailers, and footage not seen in theaters.
