Brooklyn Italians

The Brooklyn Italians (also known as Italians United) are an American soccer club based in Brooklyn, New York. The club was founded in 1949 by John DeVivo. Originally a member of the American Soccer League, they now play in the Cosmopolitan Soccer League. Considered by many to be one of the most successful semi pro teams in the United States.

Following the 1960/61 season, the Italians merged with Inter S.C., another Brooklyn Club, to form the Inter-Brooklyn Italians (see below).

After several name changes the club have reverted to their original name and play at Dreier Offermann Park in Brooklyn. The team colors are cerise and navy shirts.

The Italians have won the US Open Cup on two occasions. Firstly under the name Brooklyn Dodgers in 1979 and then as the Italians in 1991.

The current Brooklyn Italians president is Jerry Valerio.

Inter S.C.

Inter S.C. was an American soccer club based in Brooklyn, New York that was a member of the American Soccer League.

After their first season, the club merged with the Brooklyn Italians (see above) to become the Inter-Brooklyn Italians (see below).

Inter-Brooklyn Italians/Inter S.C./Boca Juniors

The Inter-Brooklyn Italians was an American soccer club based in Brooklyn, New York that was a member of the American Soccer League.

The club was formed from a merger of the Brooklyn Italians and Inter S.C. (see above). After their first season, the club was renamed Inter S.C.. Before the 1963/64 season, the team became the Boca Juniors, named after the famous club in Argentina. The team has continued under various names in the years since, being known as the Dodgers, after the former brooklyn Baseball team in 1979 and then back to the Italians by 1991. They continue to play under their original name today.
