Regarding edits to Ross Noble

Thank you for contributing to Wikipedia, 195.188.254.82! However, your edit here was reverted by an automated bot that attempts to remove spam from Wikipedia. If you were trying to insert a good link, please accept my creator's apologies, but note that the link you added, matching rule bebo\.com, is on my list of links to remove and probably shouldn't be included in Wikipedia. Please read Wikipedia's external links guidelines for more information, and consult my list of frequently-reverted sites. For more information about me, see my FAQ page. Thanks! Please stop adding inappropriate external links to Wikipedia. It is considered spamming, and Wikipedia is not a vehicle for advertising. Thanks. I have removed your re-addition of speedway details to this article as it is far too much for a non current team and it is unreferenced. Please add details to the team article rather than the city article as that is a more appropriate place for the information. In fact I am thinking of removing the existing line on speedway as I can find no reliable reference for it. Keith D (talk) 13:14, 5 March 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Although you contributions to wikipedia's article on Speedway racing are helpful, please don't insert the website www.speedwayresearcher.org.uk Thank you for your contribtuions anyway. --Bsrboy 12:43, 24 March 2008 (UTC)

Welcome to Wikipedia. Although everyone is welcome to contribute constructively to the encyclopedia, one or more of the external links you added do not comply with our guidelines for external links and have been removed. Wikipedia is not a collection of links; nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page before reinserting it. Please take a look at the welcome page to learn more about contributing to this encyclopedia. Thank you. Montco (talk) 22:46, 18 April 2008 (UTC)[reply]
  • I have deleted the inline text on articles that include www.speedwayresearcher.org.uk, I see no problem with this site being used under external links sections without added text requesting information etc. --palmiped |  Talk  12:20, 2 September 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello.

1.OK - I would be happy to see the reference set in the external links section, however, there are still many gaps to be filled in many of the files held on the Speedway Researcher web site. Think that the Wikipedia website could contribute much more by inviting help and assistance from viewers of the pages. I am not a collector of anything other than information which is shared via the Speedway Researcher web site.

2. The list of defunct teams is seriously deficient - who do I contact to send a list of "missing" teams.

3. Motherwell's speedway team raced as the Lanarkshire Eagles. It is fact that Motherwell Eagles were the local motorcycle club.

jjh1950@blueyonder.co.uk

Hello, incase you didn't realise, this is your talk page and most of the warning messages below are for the person adding speedwayresearcher.org.uk links to various articles. If this continues, this IP address will probably recieve a long block from editing. You may find these pages helpful:
1.Wikipedia is an encylopedia, adding external links to an article for the purpose of promoting a website or a product is not allowed, and is considered to be spam. Although the specific links may be allowed under some circumstances, repeatedly adding links will in most cases result in all of them being removed.
2. Wikipedia articles have been written by volunteers, and almost all of its articles can be edited by anyone who can access the Wikipedia website. There is nobody 'in charge' who you can contact about missing defunct speedway teams. You can create articles yourself, if you are not sure how, see Wikipedia:How to edit a page and Wikipedia:Your first article. But bear in mind that if the articles do not meet notability by citing reliable published sources they are likely to be deleted. Cheers BarretBonden (talk) 12:30, 17 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Barret. I am adding the directions to the Speedway Researcher web site as it is an ever growing source of detailed information about speedway meetings in the UK. An attempt to create a Speedway Wisden if you like. It is a massive source of free and uncopyrighted information which you are welcome to carry on Wikipedia if you want to. I have been researching speedway since 1978 and have published (with a coleague) books on Speedway in Scotland - Tempus With the same colleague I have published a book on pre-war speedway in Edinburgh and, on my own - a similar book on Pre-war speedway in Glasgow. PLEASE PLEASE get in touch via jjh1950@blueyonder.co.uk so we can get in contact. Jim Henry—Preceding unsigned comment added by 195.188.254.82 (talk) 12:33, 29 October 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Hello Jim. I haven't emailed you yet as I do not believe I can help you with your research. I have only been following speedway (the Poole Pirates) for the past 2 or 3 years, and I try to only add speedway information on to Wikipedia that can be found in published books or websites. I wish you all the best with the Speedway Researcher wesbite, but remember, Wikipedia shouldn't be used as a platform to promote it. If I can be of further assistance, or if you have any other questions then please contact me on my talk page and I will happy to help. BarretBonden (talk) 12:11, 3 November 2008 (UTC)[reply]

Please do not add inappropriate external links to Wikipedia, as you did to Plymouth. Wikipedia is not a collection of links, nor should it be used for advertising or promotion. Inappropriate links include (but are not limited to) links to personal web sites, links to web sites with which you are affiliated, and links that attract visitors to a web site or promote a product. See the external links guideline and spam guideline for further explanations. Since Wikipedia uses nofollow tags, external links do not alter search engine rankings. If you feel the link should be added to the article, please discuss it on the article's talk page rather than re-adding it. Thank you. bsrboy (talk) 15:25, 6 June 2008 (UTC)[reply]
