The 2008-09 Penn State Nittany Lions men's basketball team represents Pennsylvania State University. Head Coach, Ed DeChellis, is in his sixth season with the team.[1] The team is playing its home games in Template:City-state at the Bryce Jordan Center, which has a capacity of 15,000, for the twelth consecutive season.[2] This season marks team's the sixteenth consecutive season as a member of the Big Ten Conference.
Their 2008-09 NCAA Division I men's basketball season pre-conference schedule includes the Georgia Tech Yellow Jackets and geographical rival Penn Quakers.[3] The team has not appeared in the NCAA Men's Division I Basketball Championship Tournament since the 2001 Tournament following the 2007–01 season.
