This is an old revision of this page, as edited by Pathoschild (talk | contribs) at 17:09, 4 November 2005 (Blocked for vandalism: {{unsigned}} x2). The present address (URL) is a permanent link to this revision, which may differ significantly from the current revision.

Attention:

This IP address, 169.244.143.115, is registered to Maine Libraries/Dept. of Education and is shared by multiple users. Comments left on this page may be received by other users of this IP and appear to be irrelevant. Caution should be used when blocking this IP or reverting its contributions without checking.

If you are an unregistered user operating from this address, note that this need not necessarily be the IP address of your machine. In many cases, it turns out to be the IP address of a proxy server that communicates between your browser and the Wikimedia servers. Such proxies are shared among a huge number of users compared to the number of persons using your particular machine. If you are frustrated by irrelevant comments appearing here, you can avoid them by creating an account for yourself.

Warnings

When using template tags on talk pages, don't forget to substitute with text by adding subst: to the template tag. For example, use {{subst:test}} instead of {{test}}. This reduces server load and prevents accidental blanking of the template.

Blocked for vandalism

RE: [1] You have been blocked for 2 weeks for continuing to vandalise Wikipedia despite repeated requests not to. Please note that this is now your ninth block, and any further acts of vandalism will result in a significantly longer ban. If you wish to make useful contributions, you are welcome to come back after the block expires. Until that time, you will be able to read all articles on Wikipedia, but not make any page changes. Should you have any questions regarding this block, please do not hesitate to contact me directly. Best regards, Hall Monitor 19:30, 31 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You realise this is a shared IP, shared by, I don't know, thousands, if not tens of thousands of students? Why do you lump the good with the bad? And why is it when I try to log in to my account, which currently has 6500 good edits (sorry to bring editcountitis in here, but I really really have to invoke it right now), do I get blocked also? Why do you arrogantly tell me to "go create an account if you don't want to be associated blah blah", when having an account of over 6500 edits doesn't even matter because your entire IP of your school, oh wait, state gets blocked? And why do sysops block for days or weeks at a time, knowing this IP is merely an IP shared by public schools whose vandalism sprees will last merely hours? Oh justice wherefore art thou? I'm on the verge of taking this to an RFAr. -- 169.244.143.115 19:28, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Two weeks seems reasonable to me, though IP blocks affecting registered users is a major problem. You can try to take it up for arbritration, but I highly doubt your case will be accepted without you even contacting the administrator above. // Pathoschild 21:02, 3 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
This off-and-on, mostly-on, banning has been plaguing me for months. What they need to do is to change the blocking settings available to Wikipedia moderators. One should be able to choose between blocking all access from a given IP Address, as we do now, and blocking only anonymous edits from that IP Address. Those accessing from schools and public libraries won't have to be lumped together then, just because they live in the same state. Phoenix-forgotten 04:05, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I agree. I edit from a college resnet IP, and I would be rather displeased if my neigbours' moronic misbehaviour were to spill onto Wikipedia and get me blocked. Feel free to make a feature request if you wish. // Pathoschild 13:04, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Reversion requests

Can you revert this edit to the last version before it please - namely to conform to verifiability and NPOV policy. I trust some sysop will do it, since I cannot. // (preceding unsigned comment by 169.244.100.47 (talk • contribs) 15:46, November 4, 2005)

Also revert Meiosis to this last good edit here, since the mention of tetraphase is not part of the normal sequence and does not bode well for the article flow. // (preceding unsigned comment by 169.244.143.115 (talk • contribs) 15:48, November 4, 2005)

Both have been reverted as requested. // Pathoschild 17:07, 4 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]
