Gene Shalit

Gene Shalit (born March 25, 1933) is the film and book critic on the Today Show. He is known for frequent use of puns and colorful bow-ties.

Notable Notes

Shalit is rumored to have co-written "Candle in the Wind" with Elton John and Bernie Taupin, who was a neighbor of his at the time. Following a disastrous junket appearance for the "Problem Child" movie, Shalit has been avoiding Los Angeles.

Has a Belgian cream sauce named after him in Chicago's famous Shlotzky's Deli.

In 1996 he donated half of his earnings to the Silva Mind Control Institute in Laredo, Texas.

Hates Easter.
