Ice Age is a feature-length computer-animated film released by 20th Century Fox in 2002. It is directed by Carlos Saldanha and Chris Wedge and features prominent voice actors Ray Romano, John Leguizamo, Denis Leary and others.
The film tells the story of a group of prehistoric animals (Sid, a sloth; Manfred, a mammoth, and Diego, a smilodon) who co-operate in the quest of returning a left-behind human baby to its tribe after its mother has been killed in an attack on their camp and the rest have fled. Diego initially follows the others in the hope of being able to eat the baby, but is eventually persuaded to help them save the child instead.
There is also a subplot involving Scrat, a sabre-toothed prehistoric squirrel who defends his beloved acorn with paranoid fervor.
The soundtrack features songs such as Send me on my Way by Rusted Root.
