The original write up is not very NPOV, so I've changed it a bit. There has been a lot of criticism lately about these alternative dispute resolution schemes as they do not always protect the rights of parties. Large corporations find it expedient to submit matters to arbitration as it is less expensive for them, but it is not always clear that taking away redress to the courts is good for consumers. This is like some tort reformers who think that medical malpractice is caused by lawyers and not by the doctors who are negligent or class action lawsuits that cost corporations millions of dollars because they did not run their business in a way that was fair to their customers.
