Paradox Entertainment is a Swedish company based in Stockholm that is known for producing historical strategy computer games. Unlike most games in this genre, the company use a combination of real-time with the ability to make any and all changes while paused to give its games a realism lacking in the turn-based format while remaining true strategy games. the games also demonstrate a much greater commitment to historical accuracy than is the norm.

Games include:

  • Europa Universalis (I and II): Loosely based on the board game of the same name, the first covered the period 1492 - 1792, and the sequel expanded to cover the period 1419 - 1819.
  • Hearts of Iron: A World War II game with a Grand Campaign scenario beginning in 1936.
  • Victoria: A game spanning the period 1835 - 1920.
