- Sorry to answer so late, but my main pseudo on the french Wikipedia is CR, I have not used Seherr for months!
The "article 2" of the French constitution is: (as you can see here)
In the initial version of 1958, it was : (as you can see here)
So you're right, french was not the language of France before this "amendment"! CR 00:01, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
Your bug report about setExpression
I'm not sure why you want to fix the width of the popup on exactly 300 px, since they work without it, but if you want to do this, keep in mind that expressions cannot be set this way.
(documentation follows)
setExpression Method
Sets an expression for the specified object.
Syntax
object.setExpression(sPropertyName, sExpression [, sLanguage])
Parameters
sPropertyName | Required. String that specifies the name of the property to which sExpression is added.
sExpression | Required. String that specifies any valid script (JScript, JavaScript, VBScript) statement without quotations or semicolons. This string can include references to other properties on the current page. Array references are not allowed on object properties included in this script.
sLanguage | Optional. String that specifies one of the following values:
|
Return Value
No return value.
(my own comments follow)
I recommend not using the sLanguage parameter. Browsers seem to consider JScript a synonym for JavaScript anyway. I would further recommend a way to switch width fixing off, in case it's not wanted.
Cordially yours, Shinobu 19:00, 9 September 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks again. I've hopefully fixed this in popupsdev.js. Please could you test it?
I'll add anI've added a flag, popupMaxWidth, to control width-fixingif this works properly. Lupin 21:28, 9 September 2005 (UTC)
The width seems to get properly fixed now. Cordially yours, Shinobu 11:18, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
Indy FoA screenshot
Thanks for the screenshot, however wouldn't it be nice to have one of the (much more beautiful in my opinion) outside scenes? Thera, the Azores, perhaps? Just asking, I'm not trying to start a what-is-the-best-FoA-background-election. Bye, Shinobu 12:55, 11 November 2005 (UTC)
- Thanks for dropping me a line. Unfortunately, I don't have any saves outside of the lost city and I don't want to play through the game just to grab another screenshot. If you have a save with accsess to the azores, feel free to replace it with a different shot. I would suggest that you try to keep the following that I included in my picture: a) A full inventory b) It's in the middle of an action "Look at Professor Sternhart". yo
whats up
- Howdy. To what do I owe the honour? B.t.w. I really don't understand why you made an edit like [1] - especially considering you claim to be such a huge Star Wars fan. Are you sure your password is secure? Keeping your password secure is your responsibility; if your account keeps being used for vandalism it may get blocked indefinitely. Shinobu 06:48, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
My little brother likes to sneak onto my computer and mess up articles on Wikipedia. He gets a real kick out of that.
- In that case I'd recommend logging out after you finish editing (switch of the "remember me" checkbox as well) and keeping your password really secret. Again, you're responsible for every edit from your account. Apart from that, it is common practice to finish posts on talk pages with ~~~~; this will add your signature to the post, like this (except your username instead of mine will appear): Shinobu 07:02, 29 November 2005 (UTC)
thanks for the tip Davideus 07:04, 29 November 2005 (UTC);
Hows it going
How are you this fine day
I would think this category should be deleted; how do I proceed to make that happen? Yours sincerely, Shinobu 06:55, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
- I just got rid of it. --Nlu 07:00, 28 November 2005 (UTC)
Thanks! Shinobu 09:25, 4 December 2005 (UTC)
Police: see5 template
- You asked on my talk page:
Regarding your edit, please note that see5 is not migratable to see, since it's designed to take more than one (five, to be precise) argument. Shinobu 15:33, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
- Yes, well…I had just updated {{see}} to handle up to 9 arguments. Unfortunately there is a certain editor who has a bee in his bonnet about particular usage of templates and we ran foul of his latest mini-crusade. I am in the process of lodging complaints in the appropriate places: I might even be found to be occupying the moral high ground (not necessarily my usual stamping ground Template:;-)). In the meantime, it should be possible to undo your reversion unless he strikes again. HTH HAND —Phil | Talk 15:46, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
Thanks a lot! And a virtual twinkie for the new template! I've reverted my reversion, so it's okay now. Shinobu 16:01, 16 December 2005 (UTC)
Mario Kart
Saw your edit on Mario Kart today. FYI, the Rainbow Road article was up for deletion and the result was to merge the information to Mario Kart. I did some of it, but there was more info that I didn't move. If you can figure out a good way to squeeze it in, please do so. Please see this edit for the missing text. Regards, howcheng [ t • c • w • e ] 07:26, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- I took care of it with a rubbishy copy-paste. Even if the content gets moved or nuked, at least the edit-history will be preserved this way (since I included a link to the original Rainbow Road article). Shinobu 16:13, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
reply from the_morgawr
You recently posted a notice to the talk page of 69.92.186.247 (an IP address I often use) asking that I stop vandalizing pages. I do not know what you are talking about and would like a more detailed explaination. My best guess is that you are refering to my reverts of the IP address 4.37.64.164. This user posted inflamatory, inappropriate, and insulting information to a page I watch. He also slightly modified the facts of the page rendering them false. When I examined his edit history I found several other trolls which had already been reverted and several other minor fact changes that had been reverted. I also found a large list of software pages where he had posted ads in the external links section. In the vast majority of cases these had already been removed. I proceeded to remove the remaining ad links and revert minor, uncited fact changes because the history of that IP address leeds to the conclusion that those changes are false. I also reported the IP address to the administrator's notice board for incidents. If this is what you are refering to, please tell me specifically, what I did wrong and what I should have done instead. The morgawr 21:04, 20 December 2005 (UTC)
- If I remember correctly it was for the edit on Microsoft Word. The thing is, I didn't mean to warn you, but the guy you reverted - something must have gone wrong. I've looked through your contributions, and I think we're looking for this diff. I must have copied the wrong IP somehow - how this was possible totally mistifies me. My sincere apologies. TLA disambiguation
Hi! There seems to be a standard way to introduce TLA's:
- XXX is a three-letter abbreviation with multiple meanings, as described below:
Point is, you've been changing these to XXX-can-mean's while another editor is changing them to is-a-TLA's. The irony is that since you're not working on the same pages simultaniously you probably both don't know that a very slow revert war is budding.
Maybe it's time for a MoS comment about TLA-dabs, and then adhere to that. Shinobu 17:17, 21 December 2005 (UTC)
- Sorry about that. In some other discussion there seemed to be a consensus to reduce the number of disambiguation templates, and deëmphasize the differentiation between words, TLAs, 2LAs, abbrevs. and acronyms.
- TLA's are often also TLWs (three-letter words), so the description is spurious. Regardless of that, classifying something as a TLA and adding a link doesn't help disambiguation in the least, and simply waters down the page. I find disambiguation pages seem most effective when the interface is minimized to the extreme. [rant mode off]
- I'm starting a discussion at Wikipedia talk:Manual of Style (disambiguation pages)#TLAs. —Michael Z. 2005-12-21 18:55 Z

Yes, this is true. There are people who will shoot to kill any intruders, and it is legal. They think you're doing a "B&E", and shoot you. Texas is real notorious for this, so is a few other states. Its called protecting your life and property from criminals, especially if you live in a remote area instead of a city.Martial Law 23:23, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- Guess this is why holiday guides contain short primers on the peculiarities of local law. So in the U.S. you can legally get shot for something that might happen accidentally. Okay, "Technically, a person violates the law against trespassing by knowingly going onto someone else's land without consent." (LawBytes) but it's hard to tell from a dead body, isn't it? Fortunately where I live the state has a monopoly on violence. Shinobu 23:42, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
You can, for instance, if you see a burglar in you own house, you can kill him, and it is called justifiable homicide, because the guy was there to rob you, even kill you.Martial Law 23:38, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- But trespassing is a lot broader, I understand. Shinobu 23:43, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
The property owner does'nt know it is a accident, he or she will think you're breaking into his/her house, property, and shoot you. This has happened repeatedly. An expression for this is "A Man's house is his castle". More than likely, he or she will not "buy" the accident scenario either.Martial Law 23:55, 22 December 2005 (UTC)
- I'm glad I don't live in the U.S. - one might argue that the chances of an accident are slim, but they're there, especially when you're talking about land in a rural area instead of a house. I guess this is why out here only the police is allowed to use violence. You may however hold someone until the police arrives, and self-defense is allowed within reasonable bounds. Shinobu 00:15, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
You in the UK or the British Commonwealth ? Heard one year on the news about the new FL law that allows people to kill any who they believe are committing a crime against them. In Louisiana, if you even think you are about to be "car jacked", you can kill the offender and the DA/Atorrney Gen. is actually forbidden to prosecute the victim of said car jacking.Martial Law 00:25, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
- Hard to believe it's almost 2006... I'm Dutch - the situation is a bit different here. According to http://www.politie.nl/Overige/Overdepolitie/watdoetdepolitie/#Geweldsmonopolie if an officer hits a civilian with a bullet he actually commits a "punishable fact" (litteral translation of "strafbaar feit" or "delict" - it means something forbidden by Law, and therefore punishable), although he'll get away with it if it was necessary. nl:Politie_in_Nederland contains more information, but it is in Dutch. Perhaps Babelfish will help. in Nederland It's surprising how much common words and sentence constructions Babelfish doesn't get, but it's largely understandable. Ever hear of these American radio Talk show hosts: Michael Savage, Rush Limbaugh, Sean Hannity, Roger Fredinburg ? Input into Google: US Radio Talk Show hosts,Conservative.
Heard from these that drug use is legal "overseas". This true ?Martial Law 01:05, 23 December 2005 (UTC)
