Gattamaneni Mahesh Babu (born on August 9th, 1974) is one of the top actors in the Indian Telugu movie industry and popularly known as 'Prince' in Tollywood(Telugu Film industry). He is the son of the legendary Telugu actor, Krishna. He started out his movie career as a child actor in his father's films before turning professional at the age of 22.

Known for his good looks, charisma, and polished acting and dancing skills, Mahesh has starred in some very successful movies such as Rajakumarudu, Murari, Okkadu and Athadu. Mahesh married Bollywood actress Namrata Shirodkar in Feburary 2005. MAHESH BABU is the younger son of the legendary actor and Superstar Krishna and Smt.Indira Devi. He was born in Madras on August 9 th and his star sign is Leo. (We will be correlating the qualities of an ideal Leo man as described by the famous Linda Goodman with those of Mahesh later on). As his father had to spend considerable amount of time away attending shootings, he enjoys a great relationship with his elder brother RAMESH BABU because he took very good care of his upbringing. Growing up in a big family, Mahesh shares an equally warm relationship with all his sisters Padmavathi, Manjula, Priyadarsini and his grand mother Durgamma and all of them fondly address him as NAANI.

Mahesh did his schooling in Madras and later on graduated with a Commerce degree from Loyalo College, Chennai, which apparently is one of the most prestigious Arts and Science colleges in India degree in Commerce. This metropolitan upbringing enabled Mahesh to develop strong interpersonal and communication skills. It is this education that enabled him to develop a cosmopolitan outlook towards life. As some one who has got used to living his life his own way, he married his actress girl friend Namratha Shirodkar, whom he has been dating for the past few years, early this month-Febrauary 2005.

Mahesh entered the industry in 1987 as a child artist and set it ablaze with several blockbusters like Mugguru Kodukulu, Koduku Diddina Kapuram and Poratam etc. He also starred in several other movies like Sankaaravam, Pooratam, Gudachaari no 117,Baalachandrudu and Annaa Thammudu. With the last two movies faring poorly at the box-office, he took some time off from the movies and came back with a bang in a full fledged role in and as Rajakumaradu( The Prince). In under six years, he has become a major powerhouse in the industry with several hits like Rajakumarudu, Yuvaraju, Murari and Okkadu.
