The Argus (Brighton)
Appearance
The Argus is a local newspaper based in Brighton in East Sussex, with editions serving the city of Brighton and Hove and the other parts of both East and West Sussex.
Founded in 1880, and for many years known as the 'Evening Argus', it is now owned by Newsquest which acquired the title and its sister publications from Westminster Press, a subsidiary of the Pearson Group. In common with many local and regional newspapers in the UK, its circulation has fallen progressively, from a peak of 100,000 in the early 1980s to 38,223 in the second half of 2004 (as audited by ABC).
