Ranmoor House
Ranmoor House is a hall of residence at the University of Sheffield, UK. It is the largest hall of residence at the university, housing over a thousand students, and it is also the furthest away from the Students' Union, the Octagon Centre and most of the university buildings, such as the Arts Tower and the Mappin Building. Ranmoor is a few minutes from Broomhill, and can be reached on Sheffield's number 60 bus route.
Ranmoor, as it is usually known, is situated west of Sheffield city centre, on Shore Lane (which leads towards Ranmoor, the suburb of Sheffied) just off Fulwood Road. Inside, it has a large reception area, pub-style bar and a large sports and recreation hall. Ranmoor also has two music rooms, with a piano in one and a drum kit in the other.
The accommodation itself consists of small rooms, grouped into corridors (with a letter indicating the corridor, and a number indicating the floor) and the corridors are grouped into blocks (for example, EFG Block). There is also an annexe, in a separate building from the rest of the accommodation areas.
The Main Ranmoor building is based on a design for an old prison, which would explain why it is very confusing at first to navigate around it.
