Romford station is located in Romford in the London Borough of Havering in East London

A busy scene on platform 4 at Romford station as a special working of the preserved British Railways class 306 train pulls in to platform 4. Also seen is a class 315 train in First GreatEastern livery on platform 5. On the right can be seen empty platforms 3 and 2, plus in the distance platform 1, which serves the shuttle to Upminster.

It is situated between Chadwell Heath and Gidea Park. It is the western terminus of the Upminster branch line from Upminster, with Emerson Park the next station along.

The current station is made up of two once-separate stations on opposite sides of South Street. The oldest part of the station (current platforms 2–5) was opened by the Eastern Counties Railway in 1839. The London Tilbury & Southend Railway station (current platform 1) was opened in 1892 and originally had two platforms. The two stations are now joined by a footbridge and the LTSR entrance converted for use as a bar.

All train services are currently operated by one. It is in Travelcard Zone 6. It is proposed that Crossrail line 1 will call at Romford. The station is 12 miles (19.3 km) down line from Liverpool Street.
