Wikiphilosophy

Have Faith
I am a firm believer in Hanlon's Razor. Most negative actions happen because of ignorance and not malice. Assuming bad faith is a dangerous and destructive philosophy. Therefore, in all Wikimedia interactions, I will assume good faith in others, unless they have proven themselves malicious (for example, by violating the "Making a Point" guidelines).

Unite the Articles
I agree with the idea that Wikipedia is not a repository for everything. There are some subjects that are not worthy of articles. However, most subjects are worthy of minor note. For this reason, I subscribe to the Mergist philosophy. Minor subjects may not have a place as a stand alone article, but there is probably some topic where they can be merged into.

This Wiki is Made of Love and Peace!
The policy of being bold bothers me. I've seen a few times where being bold was used as an excuse to run roughshod over the contributions of other Wikipedians. There is nothing wrong with the idea that people should not be afraid to correct mistakes or add more to an article. If someone wants to do something major, such as merge or redirect, then they should discuss it first. Cooperative editing makes for a more stable and universal article than combatative editing. Being bold should never justify ignoring or opposing the need for consensus. For these reasons, I have joined the Harmonious Editing Club.

Judge Not, Lest Ye Be Deletionist

The motto of the AWWDMBJAWGCAWAIFDSPBATDMTD is Est omnino difficile judicare inclusionis meritum cuiusdam rei in encyclopaedia cum ratio sciendi quid populi referat incerta sit, sed nihilominus aliquid encyclopaediam dedecet, which translates to, "it is generally difficult to judge the worthiness of a particular topic for inclusion in an encyclopedia considering that there is no certain way to know what interests people, but some topics nevertheless are not fit for an encyclopedia." This motto reflects the desire of these Wikipedians to be reluctant, but not entirely unwilling, to remove articles from Wikipedia.

While I intend to write articles from a Neutral Point of View, my writing is ultimately a product of who I am. In the interest of disclosing potential biases, I have decided to let some of my personal views be known. If an editor encounters an article edited by me that doesn't meet NPOV, I hope they will assume good faith on my part and contact me to fix the POV problem.

Timor Mentum Occidit

Timor Mentum Occidit is Latin for Fear is the Mind-Killer. I use the phrase as a signature in emails, forums, and here as the link to my talk page.

Wikiquote has a collection of quotations related to:

Mihi timendum non est
Timor mentum occidit
Timor quasi est mors quae oblivionem exitiumque fert
Ego contra meo obsistam timori
Eum animum percurrere meum sinam
Cum autem ille abierit iter aspiciam eius
Ubi timor transierit ibi nihil iam erit
Ego unus manebo
