The Iran University of Science and Technology (دانشگاه علم و صنعت ایران) is a research insitution and university of engineering and science in Iran (Persia), offering both undergraduate and postgraduate studies. Located in the Northeast of Tehran, IUST and its surrounding communities provide a cultural and recreational environment suited to the work of a major research institution.

History

The school was first established in 1929 as the Iranian Institution for Higher Technical Education. In 1978, it was awarded the status of university and has gained a nationwide reputation as one of the largest and most significant universities of engineering as well as science in Iran.

Campus

The university is residential campus with an area of 420,000 square metres. It has classrooms, laboratories, libraries, residence halls and recreational and cultural facilities with 37 major buildings on landscaped land. IUST is staffed by 280 full-time faculty members and several research laboratories and research centers offers degrees in the areas of basic science, technical and engineering disciplines.

Academics

IUST has 11 departments, 44 instruction groups and 83 fields of study. It is one of the most active universities in Iran for graduate studies. Also it has powerful elearnig system. At present over 4432 students are studying in the BSc program, over 1257 students are studying in MSc. and over 148 are doing Ph.D. disciplines.
