The contestant in mental games must train for

battle with just as much care as the athlete.
- Plato

A mind sport is a sport which involves mostly mental abilities. The largest mind sports organisation is the Mind Sports Organisation which hosts tournaments in six different countries around the world.

The status of such activities as sports is questioned by many involved in more traditional sports, who consider that a physical element is essential for classification as such. The International Olympic Committee has no such qualms with its recognition of FIDE, the governing body of chess.
