The Southern Air Temple

The Southern Air Temple is the third episode of Avatar: The Last Airbender's first season.

Aang is excited about going home for the first time in one hundred years, but he is shocked to find out that the temple is deserted. Aang tells Sokka and Katara about his childhood as they explore the temple, but they soon discover something that Aang never expected. Meanwhile, Prince Zuko must make repairs to his ship and the only way he can do it is to dock his ship at his rival’s naval base.

Episode synopsis

Template:Spoilers Aang, Katara, and Sokka arrive at Aang's home, The Southern Air Temple, located on top of the Patalla mountain range. Aang enters a sanctuary and sees statues of all the past Avatars, and recalls his past. Meanwhile, Prince Zuko goes to Commander Zhao's harbor to repair his ship, which leads to Commander Zhao finding out that the avatar is alive, and Prince Zuko challenging him to a fire duel. Back at the Southern Air Temple, Sokka and Aang chase a flying lemur until Aang finds the dead body of his old master, Monk Gyatso. Aang unleashes his rage through his Avatar spirit and this action warns all the nations of the Avatar's return. Katara calms Aang and they continue on with their new lemur friend "Momo" in tow. Prince Zuko fights (then) Commander Zhao and defeats him.
