Maldivian laari
The laari was a coin denomination issued by the Maldives until 1913 and has been the subdenomiation of the Maldivian rufiyaa since 1960. One rufiyaa is equal to 100 laari.
The first known Laari coin was introduced by Sultan Mohamed Ibn Hajji Ali (1692 - 1700 CE).
The currenct coins are made out of a range of metals including nickel, brass, cupronickel and aluminium. The coins are issued by the Maldives Monetary Authority (MMA).
