Classes/Jobs

Knight Online has four different "classes", and each class has 3 different skill-trees to pursue. It is recommended that you only choose two of them so that you can obtain the best skills of one of them.

Mage

The wizard, master of the arcane secrets, the main damage dealer of the classes. Mages can be split into three different sub classes: Fire mages, Ice mages, and Lighting mages, as well as two more subcategories, which follow as "Paper Mage" and "Pet Mage", with various subclasses which make use of mixed stats and armor. Mages are the strongest in terms of damage and skill, but are the weakest in close combat, meaning if a rogue/priest/warior is close enough to attack a mage, he is probably dead. Also mages, like all other classes, have different skills they can choose to major/minor in. The best combos are fire/ice, lightning/ice, and ice/lightning for PVP battles, against monsters it is best to always be a fire mage to do damage.

Fire Mage

Fire Mages specialize in dealing large amounts of damage. Fire works well only for dealing mass amounts of damage, as it gives no special effects. Fire mages can buff other characters with fire resist, which is good for PvP battles. Fire mages earn a powerful spell named "Super Nova" at level 60. A fire mage would be better off being a paper mage, which this character profile with the highest possible damage capacity in the game next to a Battle Priest, however paper mages have low resistance and defense. Also with level 70 inceneration a fire mage can deal upwards of 1000 damage to even the most skilled players. Fire mages should always low INT and high MP so they may so damage. To major as a fire mage it is best to minor as an ice mage so your enimies are slowed down allowing you to do more damage.

Lighting Mage

Lighting Mages are best at PvP(Player vs. Player) battles. They deal a fair amount of damage, but it has the added effect of disrupting enemy mages' spells by making it harder for them to be successfully cast, sometimes stunning (paralyzing) opponent (more often at higher levels), and one of their best spells can teleport party fellows to safety right before party fellows die. They can buff other characters with lightning resist, which works well for Apostles and Deruvishes. One thing is they aren't as powerful as a Ice Mage or Flame Mage. To be a lightning mage it is very important to have high INT and a good minor skill. Lightning/ice is the best because of the high INT level both requires. Though lightning and ice arent as damaging as fire, if your enemy is slowed down or paralyzed, you have more time to inflict damage causing the end result to be more faverable towards you/your party/clan.

Ice Mage

Ice magic is mainly used for slowing down the enemy so you have time to pull out better spells, which is the main reason majoring in ice magic is not always the best thing to do. Ice magic is moderate in damage but has the most spells compared to the others. It is great to minor in because when your enemy is slowed down your fire/lightning spells should be all ready again. Like lighning magic, to slow down your enemy with ice requires a high INT level. If you do want to major in ice it is advisable that you have fire as your minor, because ice does not do enough damage by itself and doesnt compeletly stop your enemies, and with fire you can do a lot more damage.

Stats for Mages

INT- Used by lightning mages and ice mages; Increases your mana and the chances of stunning and slowing the target down

MP- Used mainly be fire mages and some ice mages; determines the power of your spells(translation; how much damage you do)

HP(Optional)- The point of a mage is to do so much damage you opponet is dead before he reaches you so there is really no point in have high HP, but it culd be useful in training... though i would not reconmend a player stuffing HP with skill points.

Recommeded Stats for a Level 70 Mage: Fire-255MP 125INT All other skills the same as the start of you char

Lightning-245INT 135MP All other skills the same as the start of your char

Ice/lightning-220INT 160MP All other skills the same as the start of your char

Ice/Fire-220MP 160INT All other skills the same as the start of your char

Stats for Damage Mages™

Full MP, called a paper mage. A fire major ice minor(fire/ice) mage uses this combo. Also it is advisable to have you INT above 124 so u can hold most staffs. You will do more damage with a good staff and a little lower MP than a bad staff and high MP.

Stats for Mixed Mages

Some mages will invariably go for a personalized build which makes use of a certain level of armor or weapon's availability or aesthetic preference, one such variation is the 'silk lightning mage, which has been put to good use by a small number of highly skilled mages, or 'Viper Mage' which is a mage who has arranged his stats in such a manner as to be able to use the viper staff with all remaining points into MP for damage dealing, thereby increasing the mages DOT (damage over time) and melee ability, due to the staff having a higher AP than the standard paper staves, while retaining a portion of the damage of a paper mage and a portion of the defensive ability of the pet mage. Mostly used by lightning/ice mages.

Assassins

Damage dealers. They can Stealth (turn invisible). They use daggers. They run fast. They give Strength of Wolf. They can do 10% and 5% life drains. and they can use Lupine Eyes to see invisible enemies. At level 60, they can do their Master Specialty Quest to become a Kasar Hood. Some of the top examples of this class are PH342, TunaFishyMe, abstrakt, :Spidey:, _SonicBoom_, DeathW1sh, Evil_Boss, Devils_Daggers, Thorolas, TheBoro, The_J0ker, etc.

Priest

The cleric, the servants of PH342. The healer and all around support character. There are three subclasses for priests.

Buffer

Buffers are welcomed in to any party; they can cast spells they improve other characters' health and defense. Many tankers will ask for a buffer before going into a dangerous battle.

Healer

Healers are welcomed in to any party as well, especially at high levels. Their spells replenish a character's health, which allows characters to stay in battle for a longer amount of time, thus allowing them to defeat stronger monsters.

Duffer

Debuffers are by far the most PH342red class in Knights Online, partly because once Parasited, Tormented, and Massived, most characters are a cinch to take town (a free 1-hit paper character, or a Warrior turned into a weak paper mage). Debuffers come in the form of either Battle Priests or Intelligence Priests, and usually have their secondary mastery in heal, with 45 skill points into heal in order to use 1920 heal. (superior healing, one of the best heals in the game for it's amount of points it needs)

Debuffing Battle Priests need level 62 to be a good battle preist (for judgement). They use the following gear (economic-wise, found on Diez server)

+6/25 DD Paper Priest Cap (100% needed, or you're free NP in CZ) Dual Warrior Earrings/Dual Opal Earrings/Dual STR Earrings Goblin Paper Pauldron (until level 64-65, then use 8/15 HP or 8/15 STR Pauldron) Goblin Paper Pads 8/15 STR Boots (or 5/20 Spear) 8/15 STR Gloves (or 5/20 Spear) Dual Ring of Courage/Dual Diamond Ring/Dual STR Rings Iron Necklace/Warrior Pendant/White Dragon Amulet/Lupus Pendant/+9 STR Pendant Iron Belt/Glass Belt/Bronze Belt/Belt of Strength/Belt of Life/+9 STR Belt

However, these are difficult characters to make, and have an extremely high equipment cost. Many times, an inexperienced player (a noob) who attempts to play with a duffer priest will quickly get "dismantled" by others in PK, and certainly cower in PHear.

Stats for priests

Most people go for the same stat ratio as a mage (1:2), but instead of MP, they add to STR (STR:INT). Most priests focus on Aura/Heal (support priest) or Holy/Heal (debuff priest). Priests who lack points in heal may not be welcome in some parties.

Note
There is an additional style of play called the battle priest; in this style, the player focuses soley on their STR; thus, they can deal massive damage, and can make opponents weaker using debuffing skills. They are one of the best PVP characters at high levels.

Clans

A clan is a club of users (generally friends) that group together; most players prefer to have friends as clan members, but the larger and more powerful clans will only admit strong characters. The benefits of being in a clan include: a separate chat channel for clan members, whose text appears in green on the main chat window, the ability to party with your clan members no matter what levels they are, and without being close enough to manually select them, and finally the ability to get capes, which cost huge amounts of money and require many nation points which are gained by killing users of the opposite nationality.

Making a Clan

To make a clan simply go to any of the inn keepers, and ask to create a clan. There is a 500,000 gold cost to form a clan. If you are the one who forms the clan then you become the clan leader. This grants you the ability to join or ban any one you wish to or from your clan.

  • NOTE* The ability to create a clan has been temporarily suspended due to the large amount of existing clans already in existence.

Assistants

A clan leader can appoint up to 3 other members in there clan to be assistants. This gives them the ability to join other members. They do not have the ability to ban members from the clan.

Ally

Knight clans may ally with other clans. If a knight clan allies with your clan, your clan will recieve capes that your ally clan has. There is also a type of chat called allies, and there is a chat type called clan. But you are lucky if you become an ally clan of a knight clan. With capes you get more respect.

Example - If clan RoguE_CrackaZ allies itself with another clan, both of them will have the same cape. They will not share clan logos though. A knight clan can only have 2 ally clans.

Some nice clans have other "noob" clans on other character. They invite farmers and other members and make them an ally.

For example: You may see a clan named Abyss Camper. This might mean that it is a ally clan and it is farming in Abyss.

Parties

Knight Online allows players to form "parties". A party is a group of at least two people who work together to defeat monsters, or other players, and share the experience which is received from defeating the monster. Parties allow players to level-up faster than normal. Users can only party characters who are a certain amount of levels away from them, unless they are in the same clan or one user is in the Beginner Helper Quest (a quest which puts a chicken icon next to your name and allows high-level users (anyone above lvl 30) to party with you. this lasts until you reach level 30, at which point the icon disappears, you are rewarded with 500,000 gold, and the party restrictions return to normal. players in this quest are commonly referred to as "chickens" or "newbies."

Party members can also see their fellow party members HP, MP, and what items they pick up, but not their levels.

Leechers

Also known as Parasights, leechers often make lame excuses in order to get exp without actually doing any work. Some examples of their excuses are "wc", "afk 1min plz", etc. Party leaders should disband these leechers as soon as possible.

Possible scenario 1: The leader of the party is Dismantle. Dismantle notices that his mage is being a Parasight, and leeching his exp. Dismantle selects the name of this mage and clicks "Disband". Then, he proceeds to lure a Troll Warrior to the unsuspecting leecher. Uh oh, turns out the Parasight in his party was also his clan leader!

***Dismantle has been banned from the clan***

Oh, no!
