Schongau, Bavaria

Schongau is a small town in Bavaria, near the Alps. It is located at 47°49′N 10°54′E / 47.817°N 10.900°E / 47.817; 10.900, along the Lech, between Landsberg am Lech and Füssen. It has about 12,000 inhabitants. Schongau has an old wall around the center, which is in very good shape. The mayor is Dr. Friedrich Zeller (SPD).

Near Schongau, there is the Directional Radio Relay Tower Schongau, nowadays tallest tower built of wood in Germany.
