Jocie Kok also known as Guo Mei Mei (郭美美 pinyin: Guō Měi Měi) is a Singaporean female singer who made her first appearance on the entertainment scene in the middle of 2005. She is known for crooning cutesy sing-along bubblegum tunes and often described to be naturally cute and impish. She is signed under Singapore record company Play Music which practises packaging and marketing their artistes by depicting them as cartoon caricatures on album covers and music videos. Previous popular artistes under Play Music include the Taiwanese singer Ocean Ou De Yang.

The former Singapore Polytechnic student has been an instant success, with her two singles selling a combined 55,000 copies. Jocie is viewed as Warner Music Taiwan's priority artiste with an extensive multi-million dollar marketing campaign planned for her regional debut and poised to follow in the footsteps of Warner's top Singaporean artiste, Stefanie Sun Yanzi. Her two music videos alone cost a staggering $250,000 to shoot, with top director Lai Wei-kang at the helm.

Discography

Jocie's debut single includes the cover of the song, 老鼠爱大米 [2] (Pinyin: Lǎo Shǔ Ài Dà Mǐ; translated "The Mouse So Loves The Rice"), with various remixes. With the help of aggressive advertising portraying her as a sweet innocent cartoon girl, she became famous within weeks of her single release. Her version of 老鼠爱大米 is more of a techno and hip style when compared to Xiang Xiang (香香 pinyin: xiāng xiāng ), the original singer for the female version.

Her second single, 不怕不怕 [3]Pinyin: Bu Pa Bu Pa; translated "Not afraid, not afraid"), was released in early November 2005 with a cover version of the Moldovan Romanian pop song "Dragostea Din Tei" by O-Zone with lyrics referring to the fear of cockroaches.

Her debut album titled "不怕不怕" or "No More Panic" [4] was released in January 2006. The album delivers a slew of new songs and covers that range from catchy mid-tempo tunes to acoustic folk and sentimental numbers. It also includes bonus versions of her previous hit singles Mice Love Rice and Bu Pa Bu Pa.
