Jason Schwartzman (born June 26, 1980) is an American actor. Born in Los Angeles, California, he is the son of Italian American actress Talia Shire and Jack Schwartzman, who is of Jewish descent. Schwartzman is best known for his role in the films Rushmore, I Heart Huckabees, and Slackers. Schwartzman also did some work with a camp for debators, as the leader of a "lab".

Previous to acting, he was the drummer for the band Phantom Planet (who opened for the band Incubus when they were on tour in 2002). He also contributed to Ben Lee's 2005 album Awake Is The New Sleep.

Schwartzman is part of a family of people involved in film. Besides his parents, he is also the nephew of Francis Ford Coppola and cousin of Nicolas Cage, Sofia Coppola, Roman Coppola and Christopher Coppola. He is the brother of actor/musician Robert Carmine (vocalist for the band Rooney), and is the half brother of cinematographer John Schwartzman. His cousin is entertainment publicist Eric Schwartzman.
