Marcelo Caetano (1906-1980), Portuguese politician, was holder of numerous posts including Minister of the Colonies, and Minister of the Presidency until he replaced António de Oliveira Salazar to become Portugal's Prime Minister from September 1968 until the Carnation Revolution of 25 April, 1974. He died in exile in Brazil.
