The flag of Côte d'Ivoire features three equal vertical bands of orange (hoist side), white, and green. It is similar to the flag of Ireland, but the latter is longer and has the colors reversed: the green is at the hoist side. It is also similar to the flag of Italy, which is green (hoist side), white, and red. The design was based on the flag of France; the orange color stands for the land and its fertility, the white represents peace, and the green represents hope.
