Meowth is a feline cat pokémon named after the sound cats make. (As every child knows, cats go 'meow'). The Japanese name of this pokémon is Nyarth (and as every Japanese child knows, cats go 'nyaa'). This pokémon loves playing with round objects and shiny items. According to the pokédex, it often steals coins from people to play with them. When angered, this pokémon will scratch the person it's angry with.

These pokémon live in big cities organized in groups that act like gangs stealing food and money from people.

Availability

Meowth can only be caught on Routes 38-39 in Pokémon Silver and Crystal and on the routes around Saffron City and Route 11 in Pokémon Blue (and of course, in Pokémon Silver and Crystal on those routes after gaining access to Kanto by beating the Elite Four)

Other game information

Meowth can be very useful. Since this pokémon loves to steal coins, it learns the move "Pay Day" with ease. After this move is used, coins are scattered all over the ground which are collected by the winner of the battle.
