WSTE is a full-power television station located in Ponce, Puerto Rico transmitting over analog channel 7, digital 8.

To reach the entire island of Puerto Rico, the station has booster-type translator facilities in San Juan (WSTE1), Mayagüez (WSTE2), and Arecibo (WSTE3). All WSTE stations broadcast on channel 7.

History

The station was first formed in the late 1950s as WRIK-TV in Ponce, where it retransmitted WKAQ-TV's programming. In 1970, it was bought by United Artists and moved to San Juan where it was branded Rikavision. The station produced its own programming without much success. In 1979, it was acquired by Puerto Rican producer Tommy Muñiz and became WLUZ-TV, Teleluz. Muñiz was also owner of Radio Luz, WLUZ (AM).

Financial troubles forced Muñiz to sell the station to Malrite Communications Group where it became WSTE and in 1991 was sold to Jerry Hartman, a Florida entrepreneur. Super Siete was then called El Nuevo Super Siete (The New Super Seven) and/or Teleisla, owned by the Hartman family.

WSTE is still owned by the Hartman family.
