The Two Qiaos refer to two sisters who lived during the late Han Dynasty period of Chinese history. Their names are not recorded, so they are referred to simply as Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao, literally "the elder Qiao" and "the younger Qiao".

The elder Qiao sister was married to Sun Ce, the lord of Wu; while Xiao Qiao was married to Zhou Yu. Sun Ce has two recorded children - A daughter whom was married to Lu Xun, and a posthumous son Sun Shao. Da Qiao did not give birth to the daughter, but she did give birth to the son as noted in Rafe de Crespigny's book, Generals of the South.

In fiction

In the novel Romance of the Three Kingdoms, the two Qiaos, famed beauties south of the Yangtze River, were one of the major causes of the Battle of Red Cliffs. Zhuge Liang manipulated Zhou Yu under the guise of advising him of Cao Cao's plot to obtain the Qiao sisters for himself. Enraged, Zhou Yu plotted with Zhuge Liang and Pang Tong to attack Cao Cao.

  • Both of the Qiao sisters are playable characters in the popular Koei video game series, Dynasty Warriors as well as Warriors Orochi. In both games, Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao wield twin fans. In the recent Dynasty Warriors 5, Xiao Qiao works with Zhou Yu in uniting the land under Wu. Da Qiao works alongside Sun Ce and helps to keep him alive. Da Qiao was absent during Dynasty Warriors 6, but is reintroduced in Dynasty Warriors Multi Raid 2 with a newly design costume and twin batons for weapons. Da Qiao has also been confirmed as a playable character in Dynasty Warriors 7, wielding only one fan.
  • Xiao Qiao is present in the film by John Woo, Red Cliff. She is played by Taiwanese supermodel Lin Chi-ling. It is surmised that Cao Cao's infatuation with Xiao Qiao is the cause of him invading Wu (and thus initiating the battle).
  • The Two Qiaos, known by their Japanese names (Daikyō and Shōkyō), are referenced in the visual novel and anime series, Koihime Musō. Both sisters serve as Shūyu (Zhou Yu)'s personal "pets" that have the sole purpose of entertaining her. They both are recurring characters who are famous singers from the Kingdom of Go.
  • A modern spoof series of The Romance of the Three Kingdoms named K.O.3an Guo was released in 2009. The actresses of Da Qiao and Xiao Qiao are Cai Han Cen and Cai Yi Zhen.
  • In Ikki Tousen, Xiao Qiao is the only of the sisters who is lost in the underworld, under the name of Shoukyou (the Japanese writing of her name). She makes her appearance in the Great Guardians anime, arriving to the house of Hakufu (Sun Ce's reincarnation), Goei (Madame Wu's) and Koukin (Zhou Yu's) and masquerading as the incarnation of Sun Ce's brother, Sun Quan alias Sonken Chuubou. Chiibou/Shoukou helps Hakufu and Koukin in their ordeals as much as she can, while holding feelings for Koukin as the reincarnation of his wife; however, when he gently turns her down, she immediately accepts the fact and keeps aiding them until the end. Her Japanese voice actor is Yui Horie.
