Terry McCrann

Hi. I guess almost the last thing I did was put the welcome message on you page before heading off to sleep, whic is why I didn't answer sooner. I assume that this is what you want:

File:McCrann Terry.jpg
Terry McCrann

[[Image:McCrann Terry.jpg|thumb|right|200px|Terry McCrann]] is what I used here.

[[Image:McCrann Terry.jpg|thumb|200px|Terry McCrann]] would also work.

By changing the px number you can make it bigger or smaller but 200 or 250 is probably a good size. I notice that the page you have the picture on has been tagged as not having it's copyright status listed. You need to get that fixed. Where did the picture come from? As to the deleting of the article, well that does happen fast sometimes. What you need to do is to try and set the whole article up beforehand on your own computer. Make sure that you have the categegory(s) and if necessary the stub tags on the article. Also make sure it's Wikified. That is put as much as is possible (and sensible) within the [[, check out Wikipedia:Tutorial and Wikipedia:Tutorial (Formatting). Hope this helps. If you need any more help just leave a message on my talk page. I will be on for the next few days from 0600 - 1300 Coordinated Universal Time. OK if you click on the picture or go to [[:Image:McCrann Terry.jpg:Terry McCrann] you will see that there is a tag about the copyright status of the picture. You need to get it fixed up. I'm not sure what you need to do so I think you will have to try and find an editor that has some idea of copyright info. CambridgeBayWeather 12:46, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Hi. I deleted Terry McCrann for violating the copyright of the article from which it was clipped. I didn't see any indication it was used with permission. Even if it had been, it would still need a major overhaul, as that is not an encyclopedia article but a promotional blurb. If you want to write something in a more serious and encyclopedic form it almost certainly would not be deleted. -R. fiend 14:27, 16 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

First of all, you need to avoid copyright violations. This is easily avoided by putting things in your own words, and not doing a cut/paste. It's also important that you keep the article neutral and factual. Avoid superlatives, glowing praise, and anything that really sounds like it was written by the man himself. Also try to keep an encyclopedic tone. ""Will interest rates be cut? Will the dollar fall? Which companies are headed for troubled times?" For more than 20 years Terry has provided critical analysis on these issues and a wide range of events and personalities that have shaped the nation" is not really encyclopedic. Certainly some of that information can be incorporated into the article, but not that way. Finally, it's always best to have more than one source. This is far from always done, but it helps greatly. Good luck. -R. fiend 14:49, 18 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
Lol. I see the prob. cool, thanks. I'll hopefully get it right next time, although this won't be for a while (with end-year exams, etc. I'm a tad busy now).ZPMMaker 07:34, 19 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

You can just put a speedy tag on it, and someone will be along and delete it. You have to be an admin to delete it yourself. If it keeps getting created enough times that user will probably end up blocked. You could also ask them to stop! Rx StrangeLove 00:41, 21 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

Cleanup taskforce

There are two articles on your taskforce desk (I just added the second).

The new one is Transcience of time. You listed Psychology as an interest and this is an article that the other editors aren't sure is a real psychology term or maybe misnamed. Maybe you can figure it out (the article has been moved to talk:Transcience of time. Otherwise just pass it along.

I put this here because I'm not sure everybody checks there desk as often as I do. Speaking of desks, yours doesn't have the template for the little box that tells the maximum number of open tasks you want. If you want you can tell me the number and I'll set it up for you (I'd just copy it off my desk instead of having to look for the usage details). RJFJR 01:40, 22 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I added the template for desk size and interests to your desk. You probably want to edit yoru interestes to be clearer. Tables of content appear when there are enough headings for it to need a table of contents, unless it is suppressed. I edited Wikipedia:Cleanup Taskforce/Loung Ung so the heading would be on that page and added a bullet in front of a comment. And I moved the taskforce notice from article to the talk page for Loung Ung. RJFJR 13:50, 24 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]
I just added your name to the list at Wikipedia:Cleanup Taskforce/Are you active? RJFJR 16:14, 29 October 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I read the comment you put at talk:Transcience of time. Looks good to me. Thank you for taking the time to work on this article (especially since it was mainly to prove it wasn't about anything). RJFJR 17:06, 1 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

I put it up for AFD at Wikipedia:Articles for deletion/Transcience of time. RJFJR 14:36, 9 November 2005 (UTC)[reply]

How to AFD

The procedure to nominate an article for deletion is at WP:AFD. Take a look through what has been nominated and how the voting is running before deciding if something should be deleted. (For instance, schools, no matter how trivial, almost never make it through AFD.)

In a few special circumstances an article can be speedied and deleted much quicker than going through AFD. The circumstances and conditions (and the procedure) are at WP:CSD (CSD is an acronym for Candidate for Speedy Deletion).

Hope that helps, RJFJR 14:16, 11 November 2005 (UTC).[reply]

Thanks for uploading Image:Tcrannold.jpg. However, the image may soon be deleted unless we can determine the copyright holder and copyright status. The Wikimedia Foundation is very careful about the images included in Wikipedia because of copyright law (see Wikipedia's Copyright policy).

The copyright holder is usually the creator, the creator's employer, or the last person who was transferred ownership rights. Copyright information on images on Wikipedia is signified using copyright templates. The three basic license types on Wikipedia are open content, public domain, and fair use. Find the appropriate template in Wikipedia:Image copyright tags and place it on the image page like this: {{TemplateName}}.

Please signify the copyright information on any other images you have uploaded or will upload. Remember that images without this important information can be deleted by an administrator. You can get help on image copyright tagging from Wikipedia talk:Image copyright tags. -- Carnildo 00:19, 3 February 2006 (UTC)[reply]
