Nadvorna (Hasidic dynasty)
Nadvorna is a Hasidic rabbinical dynasty within Orthodox Judaism. The group derives its name from the town of Nadvorna, which is today located in Ukraine and also known as Nadvornaya or Nadvirna. The town was located in Poland between the two world wars, and was in the province of Galicia in the Austro-Hungarian Empire before World War I. The most famous Rabbi of the dynasty was Rabbi Mordechai Leifer of Nadvorna (the son of Rabbi Yissachar Ber "Bertchi" Leifer of Nadvorna), He was raised by his uncle, the famous Rebbe Meir'l of Premishlan. He was well known as godly man, Hasidim from all over Hungary and Romania would come to receive his blessings and his advice, he was also known as a great miracle worker. His teachings are collected in Gedulas Mordechai, Tiferes Mordchai, Aspaklarya Hameira, and Maamar Mordechai.
The group was founded by its first rebbe, Rabbi Yissachar Ber "Bertchi" Leifer of Nadvorna, He was ason of Rabbi Yitzchock of Kalish (he was a brother of Rabbi Meir of Premishlan), A son of Rabbi Ahron Leib Of premishlan, A son of Rabbi Meir Hagodol of Premishlan. The Nadvorna Dynasty is famous inasmuch as many of its descendants become rebbes. Since many of the Rebbes in the Nadvorna Dynasty as in other rabbinic dynasties married relatives, many of the Rebbes in this list are sons in law of other Rebbes on the list.
Famous descendants from Rabbi Mordechai of Nadvorna include MK Rabbi Shmuel Halpert, of the Knesset in the State of Israel.
Grand rabbis are known as "Admorim" (Hebrew אדמור, which is the acronym for "אדונינו מורינו ורבינו" "Adonainu Morainu V'Rabainu", "Our master, Our teacher, and Our Rabbi").
