Daphne Moon
Daphne Crane (previously Daphne Moon) was a fictional character and the leading female character on the sitcom Frasier.
Daphne was an immigrant from Manchester, England who was employed by Dr. Frasier Crane in the first season as a physical therapist for his disabled father, Martin Crane. Due to some confusion, Daphne's position ended up becoming a live-in job, and over the years she assumed many housekeeping and cooking duties in order to justify her continued stay (and high pay).
Daphne came from a large family of six brothers in which she was the only daughter. She had a rather complex relationship with her domineering mother, Gertrude Crane, and an even worse one with her alcoholic father.
For many years Daphne was the secret love of Frasier's brother, Niles Crane. Niles kept his feelings secret until Daphne became engaged to a rich lawyer named Donnie Douglas, at which point Niles confessed his feelings on the eve of her wedding. Daphne realized she too had feelings for Niles, and cancelled her wedding at the last moment. Niles similarly divorced his new wife to pursue Daphne. For the next year both had to deal with complex fallout from the relationships they had abandoned.
After a year, Daphne and Niles got married in a small ceremony. A year later they had their first child, David Crane.
