The Edinburgh derby is a football (soccer) match played between the two biggest teams in Edinburgh, Scotland, Heart of Midlothian and Hibernian. The two teams have a fierce rivalry that dates back to when they were founded. The Edinburgh derby is played 3 or 4 times a year in the SPL, depending on the league split, and may play each other in the Scottish Cup or Scottish League Cup. They play at Easter Road Stadium (Hibs' home ground) or Tynecastle Park (Hearts'). Since 2004, a cup to go along with the Edinburgh Festival has been invented, called the Festival Cup, which is played between the two clubs. Historically Heart of Midlothian have achieved a numerically superior win average against their rivals, winning 119 games to Hibernian's 71.
