PATTERSON, LaFayette Love (1888—1987) Mr. Patterson was a farmer's son from Goldville, Alabama. He served 3 terms in the U.S. Congress from 1928 to 1933. Mr. Patterson came from poverty to obtain several degrees, one from Stanford University. His career was remarkable because he was an Alabamian elected to Congress although he was a liberal Democrat and an ardent FDR supporter.

He lived to be 100 years old. He was survived by his dog Sam, and several former children.

He had a marvellous sense of humor.
