Power Stone Unwikified video game article (sigh)

Cradle of Filth Lazy article that suffers from a severe un-NPOV and was just coped from some web site.

A Separate Peace + I cleaned up the spelling, but it really needs sentence structure and grammar help. I haven't read the book or I'd do it.

I haven't read it either, or I would, but this one is desperately bad (seems like a book report from a high school student). Geogre 18:48, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Rex Lease Actor substub, but an old one. I put in the imdb link. Geogre 18:18, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Ramstein Air Base Needs more wikifying

The Alabama Theatre Unwikified

Settlers of Catan Massive article includes the entire rule book for the game, numerous illustrations from the board game, etc. Is this copyvio? Is it necessary? While we're at it, how about

Settlers of Catan, Seafarers expansion. That's the actual article title, and it's not so wikified nor notable. Anyone want to clean it or VfD it?
See Talk:Settlers of Catan/copyright and fair use. This article and its numerous spinoffs have had a long and contentious history which, IMO, is wrong. *I* believe that much of this material is a copyvio, but others disagree. RickK 18:45, Jun 22, 2004 (UTC)

Gucci Cut and paste from web site (possibly not copyvio, though). Needs a dose of logical ordering and a minor re-write.

Pie method Currently a POV article. No longer exists. - TB 16:07, Jun 22, 2004 (UTC)

Pranayama A very long, possibly promotional, POV piece about the glories of a type of Yoga.

FleetBoston one line stub. This needs to be saved from WP:VfD. Now redirects to FleetBoston Financial - TB 16:07, Jun 22, 2004 (UTC)

Dave Batista - needs a lot of work

Arthur Avenue - needs much work

Aside from the ugliness of the entry, isn't it possible to VfD this on the rationale that other common street names have been deleted in the past. Arthur Ave isn't that notable, and there are many others by that name. (I won't VfD it if it's in CU process.) Geogre 17:25, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Claro M. Recto - needs work

Template:Russian oblasts Template:Russian republics Template:Russian krais Template:Russian autonomous districts and autonomous oblasts -- these have been combined into Template:Russian federal subjects. need help in switching all the 80+ pages using the old boxes into using the new box. a few (about 15) are already done.

Wilderness first aid Needs either serious professional attention or serious deletions.

Half Caste - poem explanation needs expanding, poem itself should be cut to a small quote or moved to wikisource

Further, the poem is, by virtue of its date, entirely within copyright. The article author should offer up proof of permission, or this is absolutely a copyvio, unless we cut the whole poem (and we should, but not before finding out if there is permission). Geogre 12:59, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Wolf Szmuness - poisonous little AIDS conspiracy theories piece, been here since April 1 (ha-ha); half the top 10 Google hits are wikiclones who copied it from us. Added an intro, but needs verification and serious NPOV, or deletion. (Was listed here before, but cleanup notice was removed from untouched article after a week.)

Horrid. Is it ok if we cut the POV and conspiracy language in "The Story?" It's possible to report the conspiracy theory in a neutral manner. (E.g. Opus Dei is controversial, but it's not fascist. It isn't weird that a professor in Poland gets a job as a lab tech in the US. It isn't weird that a Cornell lab would want a researcher from abroad, etc.) I'll do some, and others can revert it, if necessary. Geogre 13:05, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)

June 21

Lauchlin Currie - listed on VFD, needs general cleansing and wiki.

Power beaming - Almost Unwikified.

+ some wikification, potential copyvio (towo)

Holland Smith - copied from a (public domain) US military website. Needs linking and possibly NPOVing. →Raul654 22:44, Jun 21, 2004 (UTC)

The Alternate Asphygmo-Pyramidal Syndrome - What is this? And what is that last sentence? Is it a copyvio? If kept, the "The" needs to come out of the title.

Structure of the draft EU Constitution: needs proper capitalization, and more expansion -- Kaihsu 22:01, 2004 Jun 21 (UTC)

Simple majority voting: misspellings, non-sequitur, possible POV -- Kaihsu 21:59, 2004 Jun 21 (UTC)

Dr. Teeth and the Electric Mayhem - Dosn't sound like a make beleive band, possibley cut and paste?

It's the band on "The Muppet Show." It should be an easy clean. Geogre 02:15, 22 Jun 2004 (UTC)
Not the Muppet Show, but The Muppet Movie. KeithTyler 06:26, Jun 22, 2004 (UTC)

Catholic Encyclopedia - Large block of POV unwikified text.

Young Buck - lots of badly spelled and punctuated urban slang. Even has a future tense problem. - Lucky 6.9 17:38, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Alphabet of human thought - looks like a cut and paste job. -Seth Mahoney

Church rank needs formatting, information on other religions

Morios - format, shouldn't this page entitled either 'Moriae' or 'Moria'?

Elvis Presley's influence Just one substub sentence saying that his influence has been profound. Originally speedily deleted, I complained to Marcus2 that you couldn't say this without justifying it and remaining NPOV and the response was that it's a stub so it doesn't matter that it doesn't say anything (or words to that effect). So I'm listing it here. -- Graham ☺ | Talk

Um, shouldn't the Elvis Presley article have a section divide with "Influence," and shouldn't that have this single sentence (and, um, I'd say a few paragraphs about every significant rock pop band citing him and hip hop folks sampling him)? Not because it's wrong to talk about the influence, but because no one is going to WP and putting in "Elvis Presley's influence" in a search box. Geogre 16:34, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Lakeside School I don't trust myself with VfD these days, but this needs a move and clean. If one goes to Peterson's Guide to secondary education in the US and Canada, one will find a hearty 20-30 private schools named Lakeside. Further, one would find any number (inestimable) of public schools by the name. Having this be the one, the only, and for it to replicate, essentially, a Peterson's entry, just seems wrong to me. Geogre 14:13, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)

"Fuck Off" - by anon user. Need to verify due to potentially attractive content for trolls? Dunc_Harris| 13:14, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Verified, but the source I found was in French. Perhaps it would be better if there were a "Chinese Avant-Garde" or "Chinese Avant Garde" article & this info were folded into it in the absence of a fuller article on this exhibit. Geogre 14:18, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Taylor Miller oh-oh. Actor substub. Dunc_Harris| 23:29, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC)

  • It's from the same person who was reported for their work: the same work you tried to pin on me when I first got here. Anyway, she only seems to know the obvious roles: she completely missed that Taylor Miller played Sally Frame on Another World. You know it's the same person with the ominous, unchanging present tense. Blah blah stars in something that happened fifteen years ago. TheCustomOfLife 02:19, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • I reported this idiot on the vandalism page...and was advised that this isn't vandalism. I strongly and vehemently disagree. However, the same sysop suggested converting them into redirects. Easy as pie and fast, too. It'll save us all a bunch of trouble, that is, unless TheCustomOfLife puts his encyclopedic knowledge of soaps to work. Hell, even I knew about the "Cliff and Nina" love affair on AMC, and this refugee from a booby hatchery couldn't be bothered to mention that, a la the original posts for Anthony Geary and Genie Francis! - Lucky 6.9 06:35, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)
    • I disagree with redirects. It's suggesting that the fifty or so actor profiles I've already created were for naught. TheCustomOfLife 15:51, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)
  • Not so, as you now know. Your contributions are fabulous. The ones by the knuckle-dragging moron responsible for the substubs in the first place are not. - Lucky 6.9 17:40, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Joe Rush substub. Necessary or is Mutoid Waste Company sufficient? Dunc_Harris| 22:08, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Without birth year and location, this entry simply occupies a title that might go to one of the other Joseph Rushes out there. Seems like Mutoid Waste Company would be more than enough to contain this information. Geogre 11:41, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC) (Yeah, I know I'm quick on the trigger.)

Brynn Hartman substub. Notable other for being the missus of some actor? If not improved, delete it. Dunc_Harris| 20:53, 20 Jun 2004 (UTC) + added info (she shot him then turned the gun on herself) - still needs serious work

  • More near-nonsense from the B-Movie Bandit. I'm amazed that this squirrel would list this woman only as Phil Hartman's wife! - Lucky 6.9 21:23, 21 Jun 2004 (UTC)

The Battle of The Champions Loads of folks have tinkered with it, but the POV is thick, and it sounds like it was ripped from a sports page (literally)

Robert Abbot unimproved since August 2002, I tried to have a go but the academic text was too much for me. -- Graham  :) | Talk + clarified somewhat, but information about his actual significance is still needed. Vardion

Difficult case. The people he's confused with are significant, and I could write about them, but this fellow just wrote books. It's also pretty confusing in the text: he persecuted non-conformists (Puritans), and he's a Puritan? 17th c. language of schism is pretty torturous, and these non-conformists might be Anabaptists, etc. In other words, I'm not sure it can be cleaned more, but the subject passes the significance test. Geogre 13:39, 19 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Kachikoshi - this may be terminally a dicdef: a winning record in some unspecified type of competition. If someone has a clue, there might be article potential here, or replacement with a redirect. -- Jmabel 22:11, Jun 18, 2004 (UTC) + contextualised (sumo wrestling), but I don't know if it can ever be more than a dicdef - it basically just means "winning more matches than you lose". The meta subject is real enough Phantom island, and our contributor is now inking in descriptions of each Phantom island. I opine they're probably the real thing (to the extent that phantoms can be, of course). I'll do some linking to provide context. --Tagishsimon

Superficial anatomy - "from an old encyclopedia", in need of wikifying since November, 2002

Eek! This is not only obsolete and cumbersome (who searches for "superficial anatomy?"), but it's from an "old encyclopedia" that dates from the era of racial types. CU seems a waste, unless medical schools are still teaching a class called "Superficial Anatomy" and a MD wants to fill in this article with a description of such a course of study. Geogre 14:52, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Journal of Consciousness Studies - advert? data dump? needs extensive re-edit and cleanup.

It's real enough. User Mporch did most of the work about 3 weeks ago, it seems. It needs cleaning, but the journal is really peer reviewed and significant. It's not a dump or plumper. Geogre 13:12, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)
I cleaned up the Book section however I feel that the areas of study section ought to be removed, shortened or made into a Table of Contents like section. 10101001011 15:47, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)

Boston accent phonology - New article I've been working on, fairly complete, but complete enough? Poccil

Looks good, but getting the precise vocalic position (esp. around liquids) with the character set is really difficult. Could you put in any outside links? (I'm thinking about the values of post-vocalic r clipping compared to, e.g. a New Orleans, accent.)

Tradewars - wikify

I gave it the POV-ectomy, turning it to an article about the Trade Wars game (which goes by any number of names, etc.). I'm not sure that it's worth keeping, though. If folks want to clean & improve it with specific dates and iterations of the game, that would be worthwhile. Otherwise, this is probably a VfD candidate. Geogre 02:12, 18 Jun 2004 (UTC)
