Paradise, Pennsylvania
Paradise is a census-designated place located in Lancaster County, Pennsylvania. As of the 2000 census, the CDP had a total population of 1,028. Paradise, like Intercourse is a popular site for tourists who like the name of the town.
Geography
Paradise is located at 40°0'34" North, 76°7'29" West (40.009469, -76.124781)Template:GR.
According to the United States Census Bureau, the CDP has a total area of 3.0 km² (1.2 mi²). 2.9 km² (1.1 mi²) of it is land and 0.1 km² (0.04 mi²) of it is water. The total area is 2.59% water.
Demographics
As of the censusTemplate:GR of 2000, there were 1,028 people, 363 households, and 284 families residing in the CDP. The population density was 351.3/km² (907.4/mi²). There were 386 housing units at an average density of 131.9/km² (340.7/mi²). The racial makeup of the CDP was 97.57% White, 1.75% African American, 0.00% Native American, 0.10% Asian, 0.00% Pacific Islander, 0.10% from other races, and 0.49% from two or more races. 1.07% of the population were Hispanic or Latino of any race.
There were 363 households out of which 35.8% had children under the age of 18 living with them, 64.2% were married couples living together, 9.9% had a female householder with no husband present, and 21.5% were non-families. 16.0% of all households were made up of individuals and 5.0% had someone living alone who was 65 years of age or older. The average household size was 2.75 and the average family size was 3.08.
In the CDP the population was spread out with 27.2% under the age of 18, 8.6% from 18 to 24, 29.2% from 25 to 44, 22.5% from 45 to 64, and 12.5% who were 65 years of age or older. The median age was 37 years. For every 100 females there were 96.2 males. For every 100 females age 18 and over, there were 92.8 males.
