Founded by Lionel Martin, who built and raced specials at the Aston Clinton Hillclimb. The name is derived from Aston Clinton and Lionel Martin. Aston Martin are a manufacturer of expensive luxury automobiles.

Today, the company is owned by Ford and is part of the Ford Premiere Automotive Group; this also includes Volvo, Land Rover, Lincoln and Jaguar. Current products are the DB7 V12 Coupe and Convertible and the V12 Vanquish Coupe.

The very British glamour of Aston Martin cars meant they were a natural choice for the James Bond series of action films, notably the silver DB5 that appears in Goldfinger of 1964. After an interlude with Lotus and BMW, Aston Martins are again used in the series' 2002 Die Another Day.
