Raghu Ram (Telugu: రఘు రామలింగం) (born 15 April 1975) is the senior supervising producer at MTV India and the executive producer of the reality television shows MTV Roadies and MTV Splitsvilla.[1]
Early life and education
Raghu was born in Andhra Pradesh, India, and raised in Delhi, India. He has an identical twin brother, Rajiv.
The brothers did their schooling from Delhi Tamil Education association Senior Secondary School, R.K. Puram, Delhi. They attended the University of Delhi.[2] In the first year, both were students of the university's Deshbandhu College, but in the second year, they joined its Sri Venkateswara College. They dropped out because of poor academic results in the third year.[3]
Personal life
In 2009, Raghu and Rajeev made a guest appearance on MTV Connected, a television game show about twins.[4] The brothers have been the judges of all MTV Roadies seasons including Roadies 6.0 and Roadies 8.0. Raghu is married to actress Sugandha Garg who appeared as Shaleen in Jaane Tu Ya Jaane Na (2008) and played Zoya in Tere Bin Laden.
Movies and television
Ram started at MTV India supervising shows including MTV Love Line with Malaika Arora Khan and Cyrus Broacha, video jockeys (VJs), and also lead MTV Select and the first few seasons of MTV Super Select with VJ Nikhil Chinapa. His idea of MTV Roadies was accepted as an experimental project in 2000. The show was tentatively titled MTV: Find The Road and was initially met with skepticism by the senior producers of the channel. The series débuted in 2003 and at January 2012 the series continues. Ram has continuously been in controversies about his style of words but thinks he remains the sole responsible for the rebirth of MTV.
He and his brother Rajiv played a set of conjoined twins who share a liver, dress alike and talk synchronously in the 2010 semi-hit Tees Maar Khan. He is set to appear on the television series The Player.[5]
