The Fairly Oddparents is an animated series created by Butch Hartman and was first aired in March 2001. It is produced by the Frederator.

The show, set in the fictional central northern California town of Dimsdale, follows the day-to-day life of 10-year-old Timmy Turner. An only child, Timmy was often preyed upon by his mean babysitter Vicky("Icky with a V"). When he reached a particularly low point, he was assigned a pair of fairy godparents who had the power to grant his wishes and the mission to make Timmy happy. Unfortunately, Cosmo and Wanda, the godparents, are not the brightest of fairies and, although well meaning, their wishes often go awry. These Fairly OddParents (a pun on "fairy godparents"), mindful of their secretive existence, disguise themselves as various animals in public, always one green (Cosmo), the other pink (Wanda).

Each episode of the show consists of two 10-minute cartoons.

Characters

Timmy Turner

Timmy Turner is a grade-schooler who makes wishes from his fairy godparents, Cosmo and Wanda, and always wears a pink hat. Somewhat impulsive, he often tends to make wishes without thinking about the possible consequences of his actions,or how to explain his wished-for stuff("where'd you get that? Timmy:uh...internet?").

Voice actor Tara Strong is the voice of this character.

Mr. & Mrs. Turner

Mr. and Mrs. Turner (voiced by Daran Norris and Susan Blakeslee) apear as the somewhat stereotypical unamed dimwitted comic suburban parents of their only child, Timmy. It's probably worth noting that "dad"(timmy's parant's first names are never given and a time-travel eposide revealed that somehow they always had the nicknames "mom" & "dad") is somewhat efemiane(like's boy bands, girlish sceams, etc.) One episode established that they had hoped for a baby girl while Mrs. Turner was expecting, and had bought a large quantity of pink stuff, which explains why Timmy wears a pink hat.

Though the Turners love Timmy at heart, they often appear to treat him with indifference, going on frequent trips and abandoning their son with his hated babysitter, Vicky(). In the early pilot episodes of the series (in Oh Yeah! Cartoons & Comics), their faces were always just out of shot; see Unseen character.

Cosmo and Wanda

Cosmo and Wanda, also voiced respectively by Norris and Blakeslee, are Timmy's fairy godparents. Describing themselves (with tongues in cheek) in one episode as being "two halves of a whole idiot," their ability to help Timmy is limited by Da Rules, some of which are enumerated on nickelbob's fanpage.

Vicky

Vicky - icky preceded by "V" (Grey DeLisle) - is a teenage girl who works as a babysitter, and is apparently the only babysitter in dimmsdale. A meanie(wich is pu) who presents a nice face to Timmy's parents, she enjoys annoying and terrorizing small children for no reason.she's even kidnaped & unslaved a small group of children.

Jorgen Von Strangle

Jorgen Von Strangle is the head of Fairy World, the strongest fairy in the universe and commander in chief of all fairies. He is married to the tooth fairy and hates Timmy Turner. He resembles both Silvester Stallone in Rambo, as well as Arnold Schwarzenegger. Also worth noting that he is the only (male) human-sized fairy that is ever seen on the show. He is voiced by Rodger Bumpass.

Crimson Chin

The Chin is a superhero appearing in comics and televised entertainment enjoyed by FOP character Timmy Turner. In this respect, the Crimson Chin, like Captain Proton or Reptar, can be thought of as a meta-fiction character, in that they are fictional within the fiction franchises for which they were designed. He is voiced by Jay Leno.

Denzel Q. Crocker

Denzel Crocker (Carlos Alazraqui), is the schoolteacher of the class Timmy is in. He is the only person in town who both believes in Fairy Godparents, and is strongly suspicious of amazing things that happen to Timmy.

In an episode that dealt with causal loops (The Secret Origin Of Denzel Crocker), it is established that early in Crocker's life he obtained knowledge of the existence of fairy godparents, which cost him professionally when he made public his findings on the matter; however this is due to a time travel accident on Timmy's part.

Crocker is a meanie who exhibits behavior consistent with megalomania, delusions, and bipolar disorder; however, he is not really delusional, because he knows that fairy godparents, at least in his experience, actually exist, and the torture this knowledge inflicts on him is further aggravated by the fact that he will never be able to prove it. He takes out much of his rage on the students, delighting in their failure.

Chester McBadbat

Chester (Malcolm in the Middle's Frankie Muniz, subsequently, The Weekenders' Jason Marsden) is a friend of Timmy, a street-savvy schemer and opportunist.

A. J. Ibrahim

A.J. (Haneef Muhammad; subsequently, Rocket Power's second Sammy voice, Gary LeRoi Gray) is another friend of Timmy, a very intelligent autodidact.
