Applied Theatre A term to describe community based theatre. It encompasses areas such as: Theatre in Education (TIE) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theatre_in_education) Theatre For Development (TFD) (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Theatre_for_development) prison theatre, street theatre and many other forms of theatre which have the goal of somehow improving a community as appose to simply entertaining it. It's early influences can be found from Pablo Freire (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Paulo_Freire) and Augusto Boal (http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Augusto_Boal).
