Brent Albright is a professional wrestler performing for World Wrestling Entertainment on the SmackDown! brand as Gunner Scott He is the current WWE Cruiserweight Champion.
Career
During his time with Ohio Valley Wrestling Albright has been both OVW Heavyweight Champion and OVW Television Champion.
In December 2005, he feuded with Ken Doane and CM Punk for the TV Title. During this time Albright took part in a three way dance with Doane and Punk for the title, which was held at that time by Punk. Later, on January 4, 2006, Albright was in a rematch with Doane and Punk for the title. Doane was forced to leave the match early due to injury and was replaced by Aaron Stevens, who went on to win the match after an already eliminated Punk hit Albright to secure the win for Stevens.
On the January 11, 2006 OVW show, Albright won a chance for a match against Stevens for the TV Title at an upcoming WWE house show in Louisville, KY, which he lost. After that match, Albright returned to his feud with CM Punk.
On the March 1, 2006 OVW show, the feud between Albright and Punk culminated in a match for the then vacated OVW Heavyweight Championship (vacated by Matt Cappotelli) after a tournament series involving several OVW superstars for the match. During this match, Punk's knee gave out on him whilst he was on the turnbuckle, giving Albright the advantage. After beating down on Punk severely, Albright managed to lock in the STF. Though Punk did not tap out, Albright managed to hold the lock in so that Punk would pass out, giving Brent the victory and making him a two-time OVW Heavyweight Champion.
On the April 7, 2006 edition of WWE SmackDown!, Albright debuted on SmackDown! under the name Gunner Scott and defeated Booker T when Teddy Long played Boogeyman's music to distract Booker T. Later, Chris Benoit met him backstage & praised him on his winning debut. Gunner Scott went on to defeat Simon Dean the next week on Velocity using a belly-to-belly suplex.
On April 24, 2006 at a house show in Stuttgart, Germany Albright defeated the cruiserweight champion, Gregory Helms, in a non-title match
